Contest project, day eleven: Secret Files & Origins. · 2:38am Feb 12th, 2015

Tell me, somebody out there knows what's a Secret Files & Origins issue?

DC Comics used to have this format for issues entirely dedicated to explain the origins and recent history of a character or team. I really loved those ones because it was like Wikipedia, but narrated by the very writers of the comics and usually with a story behind it.

For example, the Doom Patrol SF&O was Robotman remembering his old days with the Patrol till the present time, so it had the team's history from the perspective of one of its members, making it very unique and interesting.

I'm saying you this because the new scene of [Trixie as Deadshot fic that still needs a name] is basically that, a Secret Files issue narrated by Trixie herself. Here you go:

AH I miss these................................... Now I'm even angrier at the reboot. Why? JUST PUT ALL THE CURRENT COMICS ON HOLD, THEN RELEASE RETCONNED ORIGINS AND STUFF FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND HYPE THE HELL OUT OF IT!!!

NO REBOOT NEEDED!

Thanks for sharing the thought. But your idea reminds me of Zero Hour and its #0 issues, each one under the title "The Beginning of Tomorrow." or the "One Year Later" issues from after Infinite Crisis, heck, even without a major crisis we got the Origins and Omens specials right after Faces of Evil. I think that Didio figured out that, since all of those previous specials never caught enough attention (I would be surprised if someone started reading because of a Origins and Omens), he would need a real game changer to get the publicity he wanted.

BTW, could you read the chapter? I kinda need an external view. Only if you have enough time of course.

Iceberg Lounge.

obvious reference is obvious:trollestia:
i Wonder where was Pinguin ?

and yeah so i looked at the blog and was like....
day 11......shit i missed two blogs ?!:facehoof: (the bad things of being asleep when there's a new one, i had to catch up before reading this one)

So this chapter could be the first one i guess ? the one telling how she became Deadshot before getting to the serious part.
i like how you start with something funny for a fic who's supposed to be a bit...dark ? and serious
but Sound Cast really deserved that bullet:rainbowlaugh:

Now Careful to not make Trixie too serious, she just got one big Ego.
an Sonata is adorable, whatever you can say.

obvious reference is obvious

When I read that, I couldn't help but think about the sins-counter from CinemaSins *ding*
The reason behind this is that I wanted to put Trixie inside Deadshot's original costume, this:

Since it looks like something Cobblepot would use, I decided to throw a cameo. He was provably hiding in a panic room with a fine wine and some herrings.

Well, I'm still trying different things and see what sticks. But for now this should work as an introductory chapter, maybe even a prologue. And yeah, I like my action comics/films to have some levels of comedy, it helps to remember that, even if the action is dead serious, you can enjoy the ride too. In this case I'm borrowing the style from Simone's Secret Six.

I want Trixie to be a deadpan snarker, pretty much like Deadshot in the comics. She is serious about it, but the world around her isn't, like in a Tarantino film. For example:
Trixie and Sonata storm inside the mob boss' 'secure' room. Sonata is about to confront him for all the evil (really evil) crap he's been doing, but before any moment of good versus evil talk can happen, Trixie shots him in the head.
Sonata: Trixie!
Trixie: It was in self defense, he obviously had a gun.
Sonata: No, he didn't.
Trixie: Okay, so it was murder. Who cares?

Or like this scene:
