I just wanted to put this idea out there for those who feel like writing an uplifting story. You're free to use it, just DON'T disappoint me. I'm willing to pitch in if you turn this into a collab. Message me if you're gonna try something with this and want me to help.
SETTING SUMMARY
Manechester: [gargles at the pun] city of misery. The most productive town in all Equestria is located in Crater Valley with a lake fed by three rivers.
The city was founded by a brave coal prospector who discovered that the highest quality of coal in all the world is in Crater Valley. Crowds flocked to live there, only to find out how dangerous it is. The ghosts in the valley dislike for there to be more than about 2400 ponies there at any given time, severely limiting the population. The town was built and set up with factories in the first few months before the ghosts began their attacks. The coal mines were outsourced to the Diamond Dogs, the only creatures able to dig in the deepest parts of the mines without bothering the ghosts. The factories flourished for a while, until the town began to decay and the greedy owners liquidated their production and fled as production stagnated and declined. Now all of Manechester is a small community in the center around the lake surrounded by abandoned buildings. 2 sets of 1000 (adult) ponies work 12 hour shifts, and the factories operate 24 hours a day. The children of the workers are quickly taught to master the machines that their parents use. The new factory owners toil more than the workers do, fretting over desks for days at a time with paperwork and repairs. Food has become extremely expensive and difficult to bring through the mountain pass, and the entire town must run the factories 24/7 in order to survive.
Everything is covered in soot. The three rivers, Acheron, Cocytus, and Khole, pour from the mountains bland and bitter; they pass through the cities polluted by production, and drain into the center of the crater: Lake Sludge.
PLOT SYNOPSIS
Pinkie Pie was looking at a map in Twilight's Library, asking obnoxious questions, when she sees Manechester in the corner of one of the maps, and asks Twilight about it. She reads a book on their history and is appalled.
Pinkie declares a "PARTY WAR!" against Manechester and resolves to break the melancholia of the city- at any cost. Can Pinkie actually make the town happy? Will Manechester ever be the same?
