    Absence

Been hellish busy recently, and it's not been fun.

Had some family trouble as well, seems illness just won't leave us alone. On the bright side I've had more time to refine the story and work on it. Expect a new update this week.

Also, it's a great month for games. Doom, Witcher 3: Blood and Wine, Overwatch, Prophecy League for Path of Exile.

    Good stuff.

    New Star Wars

There is a trend at work that is really irritating, and almost infuriating. The reaction to the criticism of Rey is absolutely insane. I think I'm going to have to write another rant blog about this stupidity.

And since it involves fan fiction, and this is a fanfiction site, it'll be perfect.

    Oh Hanuman give me strength.

    Once Upon a Summer Sunset

    Well, finally got it out.

Hope you all enjoy. The twists and turns of this story were incredibly fun to plan out and write.

Now, back to writing and Hearthstone.

    The New Year

Well, it's that time, and I'm late getting this up.

Doesn't exactly bode well for things to come, but hey, that's life.

A new challenger approaches · 2:40am Jan 25th, 2015

Way back when I was still new to this fandom, and I had this crazy idea that I would start writing fan fiction, I didn't even write anything down until I had the majority of the plot swimming around in my head. An adventure epic, a daunting and somewhat foolish first story, but it was what I wanted to write. The last chapter was tough, for a few reasons. Rigel is a character I love, he's one of the first that I made, and he's one of the ones based on real people in my life. Or, in his case I should say were in my life.

I know this is fiction, but even so, making him behave that way was tough to do. But I firmly believe the idea of "uncomfort" should be embraced more often in fiction. Readers shouldn't be able to completely like or dislike a character. Some of their actions might go too far, with no real satisfying justification as to why. Whether I pulled it off is something I'll learn as time goes on. Still, it wasn't easy to do.

However, in writing the outline it just so happened that something cool fell into place right after that taxing chapter. Very few characters in my story are based on real people in my life. Rigel is one of them, and a new character who will make their first appearance in the upcoming chapter is another. This is an individual who had a presence like no other, and though we had our disagreements, they were instrumental in shaping my university experience.

This is a character I had so much fun writing. Coming up with backstory and lore, personality and desires, appearance and skills. All of it was great, and I finally get to put them in the story. I don't like to post teasers or previews, since it can lead into hype, but this is an exception.

Get ready, the burning phoenix is coming.
