If she were the sun and her the moon #2 · 11:03pm Jan 21st, 2015
So far on this story, I have gotten a great response from the public. This story is sadly not on Featured or Popular Stories, but it certainly has gotten attention. Some people, however, are curious as to what character's roles and importance in the story are. Some don't see the point of why certain characters are involved in the storyline. Why don't we review the cast then.
Cast Review
Sunset Shimmer
Sunset Shimmer is the main character of If she were the sun and her the moon. The story revolves around Sunset dealing with life after an irreversible fate Celestia had cast upon her. There's been a very positive reaction to her character. Why? Because of the following reasons.
1.) Sunset is the main character
2.) Her problems are more realistic than most issues the MLP cast have to deal with in the show[ex. depression, autism, mental instability, etc.] making her character more relatable, understandable, and more accepted amongst readers
3.) Sunset Shimmer is just your favorite character because of no reason or for some reason
With these reasons, we understand why the readers have a strong connection, or more of a liking to her.
Twilight Sparkle
Twilight isn't getting much of a reaction from readers like Sunset is. That's because Twilight is not the character the story centers around routinely and she hasn't done anything. Twilight still gets readers' attention, however, even if she hasn't done anything to drastically change the story line. You may be wondering why she's in this story if she doesn't do stuff. Um, she's Sunset's love interest. So she has to be there. But there's more than just that reason she's in If she were the sun and her the moon.
Twilight is like the reader's guide through the story. I say this because through her, you learn things about Sunset that you wouldn't have learned otherwise. For example in Sunset Shimmer is bae!!!, Twilight finds that Sunset isn't just some random pony who happens to be a loud of trouble like Trixie might seem. Twilight discovers that Sunset is very intelligent and has had an impact on her life regardless of the fact that they hadn't met until the beginning of Equestria Girls. Through Twilight, you learn more about Sunset. Same in Instability-Part 2. How did you find out about all the traumatic things going on with Sunset's mind and mentality? Twilight! She was the one who you learned it through.
Celestia
Hands down, she doesn't need an explanation on why she's in the story. Celestia is the WHOLE REASON this story is happening. Yes, she is out of character. Correction: VERY out of character, but it hasn't caused any issues. I have some theories as to why no one has yelled at me for it. One is because Celestia isn't really a main character per say. She's more of a background pony than anything. Celestia usually just says a few words and appears at the end of an episode or randomly pops up in the middle of one quite conveniently when the Main 6 need advice. Besides, who walks around saying Celestia is their favorite character? No one. It's usually the main 6, Discord, some background dude, or your O.C.
Some of you may be wondering 'Why is Celestia so evil?' or 'Why is it Celestia that's evil?' Your answers:
The first one you have to keep reading the story to find out. The second question's answer is that it can only be Celestia who's evil. Now you might be all like 'What?! that's not true!' but I'm like 'Yeah, buddy!' Why can Celestia be the only evil one toward Sunset? Because she's the only link between Sunset's past and present. Sunset was once Celestia's student and if in the show and story, Twilight never met Sunset during her days of study, it only makes sense. Twilight never had a chance to be evil toward Sunset and it would make no sense at all if someone like Flash Sentry became evil. And for what? He became villainous because she broke up with him? There's always a deeper reason for being evil and it almost always leads into the past. That's why it's Celestia.
Hopefully, this blog cleared up some questions. Feel free to ask some any time and I will be happy to explain! Thanks for reading.
