Top 12 Characters in My Little Pony

So many ponies to choose from... so little time...
With a large diversity of characters in the MLP universe, I decided to choose my Top 12 favorite characters in My Little Pony FiM.
Just a quick restriction however; I am leaving out background characters like Derpy, Lyra and Doctor Hooves. As popular as they are in the fandom they haven't been given much screen time and considering Derpy's controversial voice debut, yeah... that's saying something. So here we go! My Top 12 Characters... go!

12. Princess Celestia
As far as Princess Celestia goes, she has an amazing reputation to uphold in her ruling of Equestria. She was the one who foresaw what Twilight Sparkle would become. She has watched her, trained her and has her faith set straight to her. Celestia feels more like a mother figure to Twilight but at the same time her guardian angel as well. Why is she at rank 12 you may ask? Because she was mostly absent throughout most of Season 4. Still, she is still the respected, kindhearted and wise ruler of her kingdom. I think that's enough for her.

11. Trixie
With only three main appearances in the series so far and gaining a cult following, Trixie is all great and powerful. An egotistical mare with tricks up her sleeves... err? hooves. Now here me out, I first HATED Trixie when she first appeared. HATED. I didn't like her at all because she was being an almighty jerk who thinks she's better than anyone and Twilight couldn't do a damn thing when she was upstaging everypony. But by the time she made her second appearance in Season 3, I grew to like her. Heck, Sethisto can't go one day without looking at this magnificent pony. Yeah, she can be really harsh on people and she can get carried away with envy... but you better believe she has tricks up her sleeve. See her dominate 'cause she's powerful and great.

10. Fluttershy
Cute characters are sweet. Whenever I see Fluttershy I think of her cuteness and that's basically how everyone in fandom sees her as. And they say Sonic fans hate Cream the Rabbit because she was polite. Well, no hate here. Fluttershy may be the shy pony but she is no pushover. She has displayed several times that she can stand up for herself and believes what is her best choice. In my opinion, Fluttershy has the best character development in the show. A pegasus afraid of heights she was, nowadays she's even confident enough to compete in the Equestria Games. She still has her shy side but nonetheless she has gotten good at flying. With her ability to communicate with wild life and her strong kindhearted nature, no wonder she's the Element of Kindness.

9. Spike the Dragon
Let me be honest... I thought Spike was going to be an annoying obnoxious character when I first started watching this show. But the more and more I watched, the more love I grow for him. Spike is very interesting, both in character and personality. Spike is very loyal to Twilight and would anything to protect her. Yeah, he can get quite anxious about lighting torches or scary ghosts in a castle, but at times when evil or danger is around, Spike jumps in to help his friends in need. He's Twilight's number one assistant but he's everyone's number one dragon (unless he can top Spyro or Toothless anyways.)

8. Rainbow Dash
She's awesome, she's cool, she's radical. She's Rainbow Dash. She is one of my favorites but not my all time favorite. Because already, so many fans pick Rainbow Dash over anypony else in the Mane 6. My better understanding is Dashie is a cool mare but she can get quite obnoxious, kinda like Sonic, kinda like Buttercup and kinda like Toph, she get pretty brash when she's impatient. What I like about her is the development she's given. Overcoming her ADHD, staying true to her friends and comforting the little ones like Scootaloo. I don't just like her because she has a cool attitude, I like her because she gets interesting roles in the series. She dreams of becoming a Wonderbolt, she's the fastest flyer and she is awesome as she wants to be.

7. Sweetie Belle
Sorry, Apple Bloom and Scootaloo. But, Sweetie Belle is my favourite out of the Cutie Mark Crusaders. I can't help but to look in awe at how freaking cute this filly is. I mean look at those eyes! IT'S SO GODDAMN CUTE AND ADORABLE! While Scootaloo and Apple Bloom do have nice roles to accompany them, there's one aspect that I can relate to Sweetie Belle. Siblings. Her relationship with her sister Rarity just reflects how I look up to my brother. We always fight, we always argued. But as time went on we got along just fine. There are so many things I can say but Sweetie Belle has an upbeat personality. Now where is my Sweetie Belle plush?! Oh, wait. I don't have one.

6. Rarity
My first thought about Rarity was negative. I was going to hate this character when I first started watching. But, oh god! Was I wrong. Rarity may be my favorite for real. Despite having a few personality ticks, like only caring about her dresses, being fabulous and being the cream of the crop, she has a great sense of heart in her. She's always generous towards her friends, she tries her best at her work and she makes the best melodramatic lines. Despite her ambitions, Rarity has a nice sense of growth in her. Having fun with her sister, always stay true to her friends and sacrifice her good looks to give one who doesn't. I once said to myself that I hated her but now I am saying to myself that I love her. She's the pony everypony should know.

Applejack didn't make it on this list so I had to make room for this pony.
5. Daring Do
Now that... is one badass pony! Seriously, my all time favorite supporting character in the show. Daring Do is a mix between Indiana Jones, Lara Croft and Nathan Drake, but mostly Indiana Jones... and for some reason Captain Toad. What I like about her is that she's always up for adventure. She goes on dangerous missions to recover ancient artifacts before someone uses it for the wrong reasons. She also has an interesting backstory of not putting her trust to anyone. The reveal that she isn't a fictional character is a nice touch and it's so funny to see Rainbow Dash just fangirl all over her. Daring may be a snarky treasure hunter but as they all say she is undeniably, unquestionably, unstoppable.

4. Discord
I really wanted Maud Pie, Cheese Sandwich and Shining Armor on this list but unfortunately Discord tampered with it. He is no doubt, my favorite (former) villain in the show. Discord is crazy, maniacal, mischievous and did I mentioned that he is nuts? What can I say, he has the quirks of an over the top Disney villain and the style of a dark sinister bad guy. Not to mention he is voiced by the same person who played Q from Star Trek that inspired this creepy hybrid of evil. But Discord is not all evil, he is helpful for the most part. But even after Fluttershy reformed him, the Mane 6 still have a hard time trusting him. He had major development at the end of Season 4 and even had an overly catchy song number. Just don't give him a glass of water.

3. Pinkie Pie
Her name is Pinkie Pie and she is here to say; she's gonna make us smile and brighten up our day. I love Pinkie Pie. As one of my favorites she brings in the best moments. Unlike other ponies in the show, Pinkie is the most cartoonish and in the most unusual way. She is a party pony with a love for having fun and throwing parties. What I like most about Pinkie Pie is not only her cartoonish antics but for how well thought out she can be. She's always trying to make her friends stay happy and she is always doing what she does best, making everypony smile. She has great moments and is well loved. She may not capture everyponies hearts but she always works around and never gives up without having the thought to. Her friends smile always fills Pinkie's heart with sunshine. May she never leave mine.

2. Princess Luna
Princess Luna became my instant favorite the moment she let out her ROYAL CANTERLOT VOICE. I love her design and I love her personality. She may have started out as a bad guy but she sends off her rich flair with a blast. She hasn't been seen a lot in the show but the moment she appears on screen I always smile with praise. What I also like is that she can enter into other ponies dreams to give them such messages to help them through. So far, she has visited Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle. Apple Bloom may be next. As much as I love Princess Luna, she rarely gets any great moments. I love to see her fighting alongside the Mane 6 or Celestia against an army of Changelings. Speaking of which, where the heck were you when Canterlot was being attacked Luna? Pttf, whatever. Luna is still awesome.

You all probably saw this coming. My all time favorite character in My Little Pony is none other than...
1. Twilight Sparkle
Hands down. MY FAVORITE out of everyone else. She's the main heroine of this story and she has grown on me a lot from the beginning. Twilight Sparkle is just someone I can relate myself as; being isolated from society. It's sad, but when she realizes that friendship matters more than books, she has never been so happy in her life. Twilight does come off as being snarky and tacky when it comes to being smart. Twilight also has some great freakout moments, those moments makes me love her character more. She is super obsessed, organized and logical, whether she is studying for a test or reading books to her knowledge, she has a very unique personality to even be considered the hero of the show. Even as an alicorn I still love her. She now has even more power and magic to overcome anyone. She took on a hydra, tamed Cerberus (even though she didn't), took on a Tatzlwurm, ran circles with Ahuizotl's mooks and even took on Tirek in a fiery epic battle to the death! WHY IS THIS PONY (a pony on a little girl's show) SO F***ING AWESOME! Twilight Sparkle is just an awesome bookworm. She is smart, she is witty, she is brave, she is OCD and she's a princess. Awesome much? Props to the amazing performance by Tara Strong, the voice of everyone's childhood. Twilight Sparkle, don't ever forget who your best friends are.
