Top 10 Favorite Friendship is Magic episodes · 8:17am May 21st, 2015

Warning: This post might contain spoilers.

I have been away for way too long and I'll probably be away even more now that I have applied for work experience at my local market. So I'm sorry if this has been overdue for too long. Anyway, let's get right into it.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is truly amazing. It has it's ups, it has it's downs and it has it's all arounds. But the one thing that keeps this show amazing for me is just how great everything in it is. The storyline: Solid. The characters: Unique. The setting: Cool. The animation: Smooth. And the writing is pretty darn good. I like everything about this show. Problem: It's for kids. Why would I go around the world telling people I watch a kids program that is undeniably awesome? Because... you guessed it... skeptics. Going into this show, I was skeptic about it's over growing fandom and how much they praise this show. Now I seem to have fallen victim to this trend. But you know what? I am absolutely fine about it. I wouldn't call myself a brony though, I am such a fan of other stuff like Batman, Marvel, Uncharted, Kingdom Hearts and so on.

But if I had to pick my favorite episode from this show. I had to range it by ten. So let's start doing that. This is the Top Ten Favorite Episodes of MLP. Not including Season 5.

10. Magical Mystery Cure
Okay... This is a no brainer. But there is a reason why it's on this slot. Because I actually felt something in that episode. Yes, this is the episode almost every fan bitched about even before it aired. Twilight Sparkle ascension to princess hood did kind of left an impact on me, mostly because I had no idea it come to it so quickly. I'm actually glad she now has wings, otherwise... why else wouldn't we have... :applejackconfused: We'll get to that in a moment. I know there were way too many songs in this episode and that's what kills the entire run time of the episode length. But look at... :applejackconfused: We're getting there. I know people don't like this episode and I can understand, but five months was enough to make me embrace this episode for what it is. The emotion through Celestia's Ballad still sends shivers down my back and a True True Friend is still an ear worm. It's not the best but it certainly lived up to something.

9. Party of One
Sorry, just not a fan of Cupcakes. Party of One is pretty messed up whenever I rewatch it though. The beginning is nice and the middle was hilarious. Near the end I am still getting chills whenever I see Pinkie's mind spaz out and starts talking to inanimate objects (Rocky would definitely go up against Boulder or Tom though). I like how Pinkie just takes her situation so seriously though. Thinking her friends don't like her and her parties anymore. And the moral: Don't be quick to assume the worse. It's a nice message but the execution for this is just so f***ed up... I LOVE IT! (10/10 - IGN Too much rocky)

8. Winter Wrap Up
That song... That song! :raritydespair: WHY IS IT SO HAPPY AND CHEERFUL... AND AWESOME!? A pretty great episode with a message that tells you that you have talents that no one has and you could use them to work as a team. Overall, a funny and nice episode written by the ever so great Cindy Morrow.

7. Equestria Games
Spike at Your Service: Stupid and resentful. Just for Sidekicks: Eh, okay. Owls Well that Ends Well: No way. Equestria Games: Cool. Yes. The Equestria Games was so hyped up but thanks to Rainbow Falls, it's seems like all of that potential of Pony Olympics has been shot in the ass. But this episode at least does something right. It made Spike a good character! Spike has always been the butt monkey of his episodes, his portrayal, his actions. Here, there's something to learn about him. He has anxiety. Forget Twilight, Spike has some problems of his own. He thinks he's not as brave and confident like his friends (coughFluttershycough) but he still wants to be recognizable. If anything, Spike was the best thing to come out of this episode even though it is based around said title, and it gave off a really good message.

6. Sweet and Elite
Again, Rarity is just that character that I really have a hard time liking. Depending on how the writer sees her, she could either be a rich snob or a radiant friend. This time she has to choose whether to become snobbish or endearing. Rarity grew on me as a character at this point of watching this episode. Not only does she choose to side with her friends but she goes far as to tell the rich ponies off. There's a good moral in there as well. I just like it.

5. Pinkie Pride
Never heard much about Weird Al until now. Not only does this episode introduce fan-favorite, Cheese Sandwich, but it also delves into the psyche of Pinkie Pie herself. She really wants to impress her friends and make them happy for the things she does. Pinkie may be a crazy party animal but this episode shows that inside she has a lot of emotion and promise. Her Lament just made me fall in love with just how well of a character she can be and I like characters like that. All and all, the episode was insanely crazy with the Goof Off and a backstory that opened up for more possibilities for Pinkie and Cheese. Let's hope it counts.

4. Daring Don't
This episode to me is just underrated. I mean it, I enjoyed this episode. I love the sense adventure in this and it made me feel like I was watching something from the likes of DuckTales or Darkwing Duck. The action is pretty cool. Finally we get to see a pony actually punch something, and who'd better to punch something than Daring Do herself. I am completely unfazed by Daring Do actually being a real in-universe character rather than a fictional in-universe character. It's also really nice to see Rainbow Dash just having some growth in this episode. I mean, she looked so sad and guilty that her idol just got captured because she was too focused on fangirling about Daring. This is the episode that I seriously felt that Rainbow Dash actually had heart, not just some daredevil in the skies. *sigh* Too bad it will most likely get retconned because of inconsistency.

3. Twilight's Kingdom
Dragon, Dragon, rock the dragon. Sorry, had to be done. Oh my god! This episode was awesome!:pinkiegasp: Let me start off with the battle between Twilight and the episode's villain, Tirek. It was insanely epic... and on MY LITTLE PONY! It was an adrenaline rush that made me wish for more because it was so crazy and Twilight was a complete badass even for a princess. Extra praise go towards how well written and animated it was. The voice acting was incredible. Probably the best lines of dialogue I have ever heard in a cartoon. John de Lancie maintains the wit as Discord and the guy who voices Tirek gravitates with his gruff and brute voice all together. I am serious, this episode was featured some major character development on Discord and it works so well. The song "You'll Play Your Part" is honestly one of the best pieces of music on My Little Pony that I have ever heard and I can see why Meghan McCarthy was so proud of this episode. It's so well done that I am amazed. Amazed that a show called My Little Pony could top something like this.

2. Hurricane Fluttershy
Sadly, I haven't rewatched this episode yet. I will in due time though. All I can say is, Fluttershy... you are the best.

Honorable Mentions
-Princess Twilight Sparkle
-Friendship is Magic pilot
-Pinkie Apple Pie
-Maud Pie
-Sleepless in Ponyville
-A Friend in Deed
-Too Many Pinkie Pies
-Flight to the Finish

Guilty Pleasure: Feeling Pinkie Keen

Let me just say, right now, that I used to grow such a strong hatred on Rarity. I mentioned that before. I was so annoyed by her character that I wanted to throw into the mud (even if she likes being covered in it) and I never wanted to see that s**t eating smile on her. But then... all of that hatred... died away when this episode happened.
1. Sisterhooves Social
Not only is this my favorite episode of all time, it's the one episode I truly loved. I just love everything that this episode teaches and it's about the bantering of siblings. My god. This episode hits me right in the heart with it's heartwarming moral and its loving message about being with your sister. Remember that one line from Lilo and Stitch about family? No one gets left behind or forgotten. The intro of the conflict is that Sweetie Belle disowns herself as Rarity's sister because of different attributes and activities. Sweetie has fun and Rarity has to work. Sweetie tries to help but only made her sister tick. But soon, Rarity realizes that Sweetie Belle did more than just ruin her organized chaos. She was staying by her side and making things better for her. Which is why the sapphire painting had something to speak of. Rarity realizes that deep down Sweetie Belle cares for her but she had to show that care to her. That was the reward in the end, sisters supporting each other and throwing away their differences in their time of need. This episode has a special place inside my heart and it's gonna stay that way. The bonding of family and teamwork was strong in this one and it made me change my perspective of Rarity as one of my favorite characters. I don't have much to say about it, but I adore this episode so much even as I guy I felt something so strong. Cindy Morrow... I salute you.

Will I ever see another episode that could top my favorite? Hmm. Probably not. But I'm sure there would be more great moments to come since Season 5 is currently on air.

Anyways... I've still got some stories to write down and Scorpion is right there in the Dead Woods waiting for me to Mortal Kombat. Bring it on!
