How To Take Stories Out Of Groups? (Don't Touch My Shit For Stupid Reasons!!) · 1:31pm Jan 17th, 2015
So I happened to find that my story "Vinyl Scratch Hates School" is in a couple groups that I know I didn't put them in. Normally, I don't mind, because people have added my stories and for the most part, it benefits me and blah blah blah- Anyway, I noticed it was in two groups that I definitely want to take them out of. Some group called "Crackers" and "Spike is Best Dragon". I don't like want it in "Crackers" because they put in under the "Horrible" category, even though...for the most part, it's not...at least for the ratings. And I want it out of "Spike is Best Dragon" because...it doesn't make any sense to put it there, and I'm sure some inbred, knuckle dragging ass-clown put it in there for shits in giggles.
SOOOOOO my question is, how do I take it out of those groups if I haven't joined the group. I tried to join and remove myself, then leave, but that doesn't seem to work. Anyone know what the hell to do?
oh damn, i know how that feels... my advice would be to report it... I didn't report my assaulter because the story which they posted in those groups ended up out weighing its dislikes with twice as many likes. in the end, that's all i really care about. well, that and the views, and the comments ponies leave...
but in essence, it's no use... sorry

Yeah, you can't report people for adding stories to groups. That's a group running rule, not a site rule.
The only way you can involve the mods is if the group is a dedicated downvote farm or the users are being harmful to the story as a direct result of the group. Train Wreck Explorers used to highlight poorly written stories, but it was a proven downvote farm and dedicated negative comment source from the group members, so it had to be shut down. Several child groups have sprouted up to highlight bad stories, but they're dedicated to story critique and the purpose of the groups is not to insult, but celebrate the bad writing, just like you enjoy watching a bad movie.
If the story was erroneously added due to its breaking group rules, you would contact a group administrator or the person that added it to the group. A way to find out who added it is to join the group briefly, filter your feed by Groups posts, then search the story additions for where your story got added. You can then PM the user requesting they remove your story. If the user gives you lip about it despite it being against group addition rules, you can PM a group admin and tell them about the problem user. Most group admins take group addition rules seriously as outlined in their rules, and if there are no story addition rules... well, chances are the group admins don't care.
I run a group of my own that has forced me to invoke my "add whatever story you like" rule, as well as my "don't attack users" rule. Someone who argued with someone else on semantics in a well-written story's comments adding that story as a grudge breaks the "don't attack users" rule, so I remove that story... but if the story has a premise involving Naruto, or humans, or alicorn OCs, whether it's well-written or not, it meets the group's criteria, therefore no rules have been broken.
If you don't like the story being shown as a part of the group on that story's page, you can blacklist the groups the story has been added to; then it only shows on the group's page.
