what if nightmare moon was just a trick that Celestia and Luna played to make ponies love the night?
Celestia and Luna have been ruling side by side for a long time now and their little ponies were starting to hate and fear the night so Celestia and Luna set up a situation where they can make their ponies love the night as much as the day by having Luna pretend to turn evil and attack Celestia causing Celestia to "banish" her to the moon for 1000 years (of rest) while Celestia takes over the night making the ponies love the night as much as the day cause their beloved Celestia would be controlling it. to make matters even better for the royal sisters they knew by way of prophesy that the true bearers of harmony would awaken around the time Luna woke up. to help it along they would have them free Luna from her nightmare and maybe set into motion the awakening of the alicorn of magic. being immortal can be lonely after all.

Twilight was effected more than she cared to admit after seeing her mentor fall to the changeling queen from a cheap shot to her horn. over the time after the wedding she has been working on some form of armor for horns so that Celestia would never have to fall so easily again. when twilight finally becomes the princess of magic she begins raising her own secret army the army of Twilights sole goal was to protect Equestra from any and all threats inside or out. Twilight has been keeping her army secret even from the other princesses but Luna is the princess of the night and her spies are among the best so she slowly finds out about Twilights army and confronts her only to find out that twilight was not doing this to take over equestra but to protect it. Luna was so ready to believe the worse of twilight that she feels ashamed and twilight has to find a way to cheer Luna up.
