Ok...I'm not really sure how the blogging mechanic works on this site, but I'll just go with it and think as I go.
I have an interesting story idea for my first fan fiction and I'm not going to spoil anything about it, but I will give a rundown of what it is about:
The story is about an OC colt of mine who moves to Ponyville to help his aunt as she is expecting a foal in the next several months. There, he will meet a lot of known characters, make new friends and hopefully find a place to belong in. The story features a lot of other OC's, most of them being my own (as far as I know), as well as characters of the series.
Why is he looking for a place to belong you may ask? well that's his dilemma; he's actually an Earth Pony who was born to a family of Pegasus in the city of Cloudsdale (don't worry, how that happened will be explained in the story). The first chapter is currently done, but still needs a lot of proofreading to make complete sense and may not be complete for a bit.
Now, with this series, I have two major concerns; the first is that I know how the story is going to go from point A to Z...but a problem I have, and I'm sure it's not that uncommon, is how to tie them together in terms of "to points B, C, D, etc. With this in mind, I fear that the story may not go in the right direction and/or may lose the readers attention if I accidentally drag it on.
My other concern, is that I don't want the character to end up being a "Gary Stu" as he does have a few traits (that I may or may not end up scrapping) that could make him fall dangerously close to this type. One major trait (idea) for example, is that his cutie mark behaves in a very strange and random way; it is a pair of blank playing cards with ? marks that is able to change to something displayed on the card's surface when in a certain situation, temporarily altering his talent. This one may end up being changed, but it does leave a few plot points in the story that I know will happen so far needing some clarification/ change as well.
I'm sure I'll figure it out, but for now, i'll just write this personal post and keep it updated soon enough.
