    News and New Projects

It has now been almost six whole months since my last story went live, and nearly a year since my last blog post--in which I discussed what my next major project would be. By this time, I'll bet some of your are beginning to wonder what I'm up to, or if I'm up to anything at all, huh?

    The Next Big Story

My keyboard fingers have been itchy lately, and that can only mean one thing: I'm hankering to start another long-term project.

    Bitmore Theater: A Post-Mortem

Don't worry, there isn't going to be some suddenly tragic epilogue or sequel, and you haven't missed any chapter. No one is dead. Everyone is happy! A post-mortem is what they do, in my industry, when a project wraps up. It's basically a great big report at the end of everything when everybody thinks back over everything that happened and was done, and what went wrong, and what they can do better

    Continuing Adventures of Bat Ponies

It's a terrible thing of me, to talk about how I only might start work on a story again, only to swing right around and start up not one, but two new stories. I do apologize for letting Our Eminence continue to fall by the wayside.

    Our Eminence

So, as many, or most, of you have likely seen, Our Eminence has recently updated. Two whole chapters, even! A grand culmination of Two Year's work, to be certain.

Of course in light of this a question is surely going through all your heads, to the tune of, "Does this mean Our Eminence will be updating again? Is it going to finish?"

    No.

In Which the Story Ends · 1:30am Jan 5th, 2012

So that's that. the Colour You Bleed is finished. It feels strange, you know. Being done with this. Every day, for almost four months I would sit down to write about Blueblood, and White Brook, and everyone else. It feels so strange now, not doing it. It feels odd not having the story pounding through my head, every moment of every day. It feels sort of strangely empty.

Writing isn't an easy process. Nothing creative ever is. But it's different from just drawing, or just painting. It's in your head, all the time. These characters, who you come to love like children. You do awful things to them, and it can be hard sometimes. And that's just the story itself. There's much more to writing than that. There's research. World building. Maybe you have an editor, or someone you want to impress, and you have to struggle with making them happy or sticking to your vision.

I think I know why people keep on writing, though. For how hard it is, I feel so strange now that I'm not doing it anymore. I want to do it again. I don't think it's a matter of want, really. I think writers write because they need to. In the game Alan Wake, the main character tells us, "When you finish writing something, it's hard. For ages you lived with a character, ate slept and breathed the story, and then it's gone. You have to learn how to live without it every single time." It's a bit like an addiction. It's interesting.

I don't know if I'll write again. I'm in my final quarter of college now, and I need to focus on my portfolio projects. After that, I'll get a job. I don't know if I'll have the time or energy to write, after that. But I'd like to.

Will it be about Blueblood? I can't say. Maybe it will. Maybe it'll be about another pony. Maybe I'll just make somepony up. I suppose, in the face of the unknown, I'd simply wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for reading the story, and for being amazing fans. It feels strange to be done, but I'm glad that I wrote it. I hope you all enjoyed the ride.

I cannot say I know the feel, as I'm more one for one-shots and never written a longer piece, but...I suppose I can at the very least imagine it. It is a shame to hear, but I hope you do get to write again, and I'm glad you had fun with it.

You're very passionate. I have to say that if you truly do love writings (and you seem to) then don't give it up for anything. I mean, there are very few things on par with creativing a world and living in it until you say good bye and must move on to the next. Touching the hearts and minds of every reader who approaches your story, and bringing to life these amazing characters! If you have no time to write a longer story like The Color You Bleed again, then at least write a hundred words when you can manage it. Little drabbles or vignettes to keep the words sparking at your fingertips.

Also, I have to stay, The Color You Bleed is pretty much my favorite story now. The ride was fabulous and the ending was gentle. It'll inspire me for years to come, I'm sure.

Know the feeling. You described it well, but if you want my honest opinion, you did an amazing job creating OCs in that story as well as Blueblood himself. TCYB is definitely my second favourite story, next to Lunacy.

By the way, just to get this out of my system...
