Favourite bands? Favourite songs? · 3:16am Nov 30th, 2014

Hello and greetings random reader!

I have an issue I need your (yes, your!) help with. Never fear! It is not anything critical, or life-changing, or soul-searching. It is simply thus: Significant Other has given me an early Christmas present and gifted me with a Pandora subscription and I have absolutely no bloody idea what to add to my "stations"! (First world problems, eh?)

My question to the 2 or three of you guys (and gals) that stop by and read this is "What are some of your favourite songs/bands that you love to listen to?"

I would certainly love to hear what you have to say.

My top 2 favourite bands are Volbeat and Hurt.

Volbeat: Danish hard rock/heavy metal with elements of psychobilly—think metal combined with Elvis+Johnny Cash
- 7 Shots
- Always, Wu
- Alienized
- Ecotone
- Fire Song
- The Mirror and the Ripper
- River Queen

HURT: Kind of hard to categorise—Wikipedia almighty classifies them as "alt-metal/alt-rock" but that does not quite fit. Somewhat reminiscent of Tool and A Perfect Circle with acoustic bits mixed in. I absolutely love the lead singer's voice.
- Dirty
- Et Al
- Falls Apart
- House Carpenter
- Loded
- So When
- Ten Ton Brick
- Summers Lost
- Unkind

Right now all I have is hard rock/metal stiff, but I would like to discover more: House, Ambiance, Electro Swing, Folk, Country, Indie, Thrash,... I would love to sample it all!

Ever hear of a band called Rise Against? NOT to be confused with Rage Against The Machine.

I think I may have run across one or three of their songs before. Do you have any song recommendations for them?

Well, this is just off the top of my head, but here's a few songs of theirs that I would recommend:

Dancing for Rain
Survive
Swing Life Away
The Strength to Go On
Paper Wings
Prayer of the Refugee
Savior

I enjoy their style, though I haven't really had a chance to listen to their latest two albums...

My music choices are as eclectic and strange as my personality! Lets list a few from my mp3s

Bones by Ms Mr
Moonrise by Ltrain
White and Nerdy by Weird Al
Thought I'd let you know by 4everfreebrony
Open your eyes by Aviators
Evolution era by Deemo
The final solution by Sabaton

If you want more assorted genre music, just ask

They certainly have an interesting sound (if a bit too "punky" for my usual tastes). I will certainly add them to the rotation. Thanks!

That certainly is an eclectic mix. Many of those songs are not quite my cuppa though; I am not real into power metal. The PMVs were interesting, but they are a bit of a no-go since I cannot add them on Pandora.

Bones certainly was interesting. Significant Other liked it as well; he is more into indie type music than I am. (That being said, he did get me into Franz Ferdinand and The Bravery...)

Thanks for the lists! You bet I would certainly love to hear more!

Guilty pleasure band!
Milky Chance.

An electronic folk (folk...tronica?) duo from Germany. Light, fluffy, happy songs, reminiscent of a summers holiday (and the lead singer is rather cute... :raritywink:).

Flashed Junk Mind
Down by the River
Stolen Dance
