I was intrigued by the trailer and its premise and I am so glad I picked this game up when it went on sale. This is arguably the most authentic to real life game I have ever played, yet its captivating because of how well it plays off the feeling of being completely isolated and cutoff from any kind of help.

Just take a second to appreciate that, you have a game here that has pretty much zero fantasy elements(aside from the absurdly aggressive wolves(I don't know, maybe they're starving in an overly harsh winter)) yet it manages to be more terrifying than a lot of conventional horror games once you get immersed in it.

With most conventional horror monsters there's a gimmick that you can control, stare at it or don't stare at it, stay in the light or don't. In this game your foe is winter itself. And it doesn't stop for anything, it is eating you alive right from the second you start the game and it is a constant paranoia inducing. uphill battle to stay warm and healthy.

I would definitely love to see more maps and more interiors and buildings, as well as maybe a rebalancing of the wolves because damn they killed me a lot in just four hours of play. But for the most part this game is already shaping up to be a favorite of mine.

I think the final thing I could say to recommend this is that even though Im already living in cold, rural Canada Im still eager to jump into a game that takes me to cold rural Canada. 8)
