Yes, someday I will get around to making an effort to write a fiction of my own. That will happen when I'm not so freaking busy with everything else going crazy in my life since the accident. The accident which I never thought to write a blog post about. I was in a car accident December 24, 2013 in the late evening. I had a very crappy Christmas. I hate telephone poles and bad driving. I do not hate the driver responsible (which was thankfully not me, or I probably wouldn't be here due to depression which might have even come to the extreme). Anyway, if you're reading this, I don't want you to end on a bad note, so enjoy this heartwarming video I just found recently yesterday (was it really that recently? Time flies when you are bored with being busy).
Sorry you're having a rough time! I thought my Christmas was a little rough (my back went out Christmas Eve, and I was basically down for that and Christmas day, but it feels a lot better now). But I realize that it could have been much, much worse.
2683138 And just imagine if you had the side order of brain death I came very close to! We're pretty sure I hit my head against the windshield, but it seems my spine against the dashboard took the brunt of the force. Seatbelts? Those are only good if you wear them and the latch works, which may not have been the case, but we can't tell. According to an investigator, the seatbelt was "locked extended" when she got a chance to look at the vehicle (which was only after we played "Find That Car!" with the insurance company), which, by my assessment, means the latch probably broke on impact (I feel fairly certain I buckled up and if I did, I would have made sure it was latched firmly. I take click it or ticket literally. It must click!). Before you jump to the conclusion that the manufacturer was at fault, you must understand, this is an old (approximately 10 years old, last I recall) Ford conversion van we're talking about. The thing probably eroded through by that time, regardless of the involvement of rust.
Anyway, yeah, it was a crappy Christmas, but I'm still alive* and I can still enjoy ponies, so I can't complain too much. I still hate telephone poles, though. And who could fault me?
*as a matter of fact, I astounded the neurologist, one who had seen many of that injury, by surviving. Since then I've come a long way, and if he could see me now, I think he would be flabbergasted. If anyone asks why I have faith in God, not just his existence but in his word, send them the permalink to this comment. That's just the start.
