The other day I was walking through the industrial zone in Blanquefort, near Bordeaux (Where I live) and I saw... an abandonned Jaguar XJS.
Just like that. A post-facelift, V12 engine (judging from the trims and badges) vintage luxury sports car sitting on a car park with vegetation starting to grow through it. No panel damage, just a bit of faded paint and flat tires. It even had the OEM wheels for fuck's sake!

MY RAGE. ALL OF IT.

What is it, a stolen car? Who the fucks lets a stolen car sitting for months, exposed to the elements? Why, god why?

For you non car guys, here's what a facelift Jaguar XJS looks like. Didn't think to take photos at the time. I know, it's a 6 cylinder, not the V12 version, but these were the best pics of the same car I could find.

And here's its heart, the 5.3 at least. Maybe it was even a 6 liter.

Have music, anyway.

What? It's music!

It's in times like these I wish I was worth at least six figures.

...... see if there is anyone who knows about it.

2581366 That is a nice car. I'd be hard-pressed between that Jag and a '69 Charger R/T.

Does someone need a hug?

2581374
I need a punching bag. But a hug is okay too.

2581376 bring it in bring it in:pinkiesmile:

2581385 I am laughing so much that it hurts...:rainbowlaugh: HAHAHAHAHA YOU ARE TO FUNNY...I CANT TAKE IT...MY HEART CANT TAKE IT...:rainbowlaugh:

Maybe it took a cruise around the Zone and now it's radioactive?

Though that brings up a semi-good point in the zone. You see what appear to be perfectly good BTRs (some even have their turrets intact) just sitting in various places (Garbage being the big one). Makes me wonder why the organized stalkers (like Duty or Freedom or the Monolith. ESPECIALLY the Monolith. Loners and bandits I can sort of see why they wouldn't bother) never thought to themselves "hmmm, you know there's all these vehicles just sitting here. Maybe we can get some sort of use out of them, if not directly for travel than for other things"

It differs from Fallout, where there's this too, but in many other cases you see that the local populace has at least made good use out of some of them, cannibalizing them for either scrap metal (walls, doors, etc). You really mean to tell me that duty never thought to itself "Hmm, okay so here's this MI-24 just sitting here. It has a Minigun and rocket pods. Maybe we can tear these off and make a machine gun/rocket nest out of these to use against Freedom/Bandits/Mutants/Monolith forces trying to encroach on our base?" Or even "If we take this BTR, Move it over here and flip it on the side, it can make a decent wall padding?" or at the very least "Maybe we can tear the non-radioactive metal off of it and sell/keep it for scrap metal?"

why not just salvage the engine? maybe sell it or slap it in another car?could make some dollar dollar bills off of it.
this is a good reason to be friends with a mechanic or two, that way if stuff like this happens you can seize the opportunity.

The engine is the main problem in that car. A huge gas-guzzler that will literally melt if it overheats. If you keep good care of it, shit yeah it'll run well, but mistreat it once and it's to the wrecker's. come to think of it, maybe that was why the car was abandonned.

Still, even for scrap it'd be worth something, and I bet someone with the budget would have been happy to buy it and rebuild it just for the hell of it.

2581746 If it has a cracked block or it did overheat and everything was cooked with it, it isn't worth the chassis it's built on.

2581746 sort of like my dad's old engine.
he wrecked the car, engine was mostly intact, some parts needed replacing. the real problem was the company that makes those custom parts doesn't exist any more, so i would have to drop a pretty penny to get ford to make the parts.
it's really sad because it's a one of a kind engine.

2582107
I wished I had the funds to repair it ;_;

shit, I couldn't even afford a new set of tires or even a balancing of the wheels.

if it just sitting there, you could call a wrecker an have him tow it to your house, an try to get a salvage title. like they said even a good body would still be worth some money
