My Thoughts on Clop · 4:48pm Sep 10th, 2014
Ladies and Gentlecolts, I've done something I thought I would never do: I read a clop fic. And what's worse, I enjoyed it. I recently read the story, "Summer On Fire" (I don't know how to link) by Togashi, and it has an amazing plot. And by plot I mean the story itself, not the other kind of plot. Pervs. I think the reason I enjoyed this story is because it focuses mainly on the characters and story, and only occasionally throws in sexual elements. Honestly, I feel like this story is great enough to not need the sexual elements in order to draw an audience. I feel like this story would be just as good without the sex, if not better. This story got me thinking, so I decided to post my thoughts on the clop genre.
NOTE: I am in no way, shape, or form trying to criticize or ridicule those that enjoy clop. If this stuff is what you're in to, then neither I nor anyone else has the right to judge you. These are just my personal thoughts and opinions.
There are a few reasons that I do not particularly enjoy clop fics. One reason is that I just don't get any sexual arousal from it. The thought of ponies, or any animal for that matter, having sex just doesn't appeal to me. However, I believe the biggest reason for my general aversion to clop is because of my personal love of the show. One of the reasons I love MLP so much is because of its innocence; its incorruptible and unaffected by the horrible aspects of the real world. Clop fics, at least in my opinion, take away from that innocence and corrupt the characters that I love. That being said, I'm sure that not all clop stories are simply porn, the one I read being a good example. However, I doubt I will be reading very much of this particular genre. Everyone has their likes and dislikes, and I'm just sharing mine. I'm not asking anyone to agree with my opinion, and I wish all the clop authors the best of luck in their writing endeavors and I welcome those that do enjoy clop with open arms and without judgement. I would like to end this post with a quote from my wise little sister that really hit home for me:
"There's no such thing as a guilty pleasure. You like what you like and screw anyone that judges you for it."
You have a wise sister Tacitus. And thank you for opinion, unlike some other people I know. I appreciate others opinions and I too don't judge people for what they like, I simply take it in stride.
