Weeeeeeell. I can understand a Brazilian if the guy speaks very slowly and uses his hands to gesticulate. Having a common base in Latin helps but the two are well defined and different languages, so yes and no. For a native Spanish/Portuguese speaker it will be relatively easier to learn the other language, but not that much..

It's been a while since I heard the good old Latin Spanish and around the same time since the original versions. But is not that big of a difference, the voice cast actually did a good job on keeping the emotions and tones from the source material.
