Trying new things

When I started this fic, I had no idea where the char would go, I had no idea that members of the Main Six would be in it. I have always been hesitant to incorporate characters from the main show into my story, unless, like sombra, they had NO backstory. (Yes, hasbro, I am looking at you. GAK got more screentime than him)

Finally, I realized that I had an amazing idea. This idea was so amazing, I did not sleep AT ALL last night as I got the ball rolling. I dont know how often it is done, but I dont see it very much, where the main char (OC in this case) enters the lives of the Main 6 but is not the only thing in their lives all of a sudden. Often I see one or more members of the main six just dump everything, or conveniently not have a life, and is able to spend all of their time with this new interloper. I love a good fic, but I like to see a bit of realism as well. I wont point out names though, as I do not mean to be seen as someone tearing down his betters (Really, I look up to you guys for being better writers)

Anyways, back to the topic at hoof, I thought "What if the char went to a certain shop, and met literally the two worst members of the main six for his current mental condition? Over the top excited pinkie pie, and the arrogant rainbow dash? (Before you say anything, yes, RD is a bit arrogant.)

The result was hilarity. He flips out, pinkie gets a dampener put on her, and RD feels like a jerk. He ends up in the hospital, and then RD decides to make amends for hurting a member of the flock (Because pegasi, shut up you in the crowd), and decides to help make him better.

Naturally, he does not have much choice but to go along for the ride. I have yet to decide if a ride might be involved, although I do have something in mind if it goes in that direction. Dont forget his old sort-of-but-not-really relationship with Orange Blaze. That lovely orange mare who probably would bear a resemblance to Sunset Shimmer.

I am drawing off of some of my own experiences moodwise with depression, although I will never claim to know what it is really like to be a wartorn soldier. I have never been shot, I have never charged an enemy firing line, I have never had to kill someone. But I (And this soudns dumb) at least made sure to read some veteran accounts before jumping into this. If you are a veteran out there, I also am not making fun of you or making light of you. I respect all millitary, as I myself went to navy boot camp before my stress disorders and anxiety and depression bought me a ticket back home. I have nothing but mad respect for those that can stick it out and then go and risk (And give) their lives for clan and country.

That said, if anyone reads these and has an opinion or personal experience, I would be happy to hear it. My goal is to add some realism to this work of fiction, and to not make a right fool of myself. See ya all in chapter six!
