hinking things over at work, I have come to a realization. Twilight's antethisis, her polar oppisite in the show, is not Sunset Shimmer or even Trixie for neither actually directly represent what she is about at her core. In fact, there is only one character that truely does so.
Discord.
Twilight represents everything that is right, proper, aligned, sorted, arranged, setup, labeled, categorized and frankly just Orderly.
Discord is everything opposite to that to the T. That T being then flipped upside down and peeled like a banana.
I had recently read a story by RealityCheck called 'The Audience' in which a backstory for Discord was given. In it, he represents a force that exist to keep the universe in balance. He creates Chaos so that Order does not degrade from lack of change.
So then I wondered, what if that happened on a more local level? What if Twilight, so stuck in her orderly and set up world, has become lethargic about everything. With everything set to a schedule, nothing out of place, every moment measured and taken at the right moment she eventually starts to lose interesting in continuing to the next day.
For what reason is there to see tomorrow when you already know what it is going to be?
How then, do you wonder, Discord would save her?
