Movies Reviews by Tripl3M: Tonight Lucy (Spoilers... duh)

    Lucy was interesting.

Interesting from a scientific point of view, from the standpoint of a enjoyment seeking viewer maybe not so much.

While it had it's fair share gruesome and violent scene, they were clearly not the focus of the movie. You'd already seen most if you seen the trailer.

    Galacon The Full Blog

    Hello fellow humans,

I finally got my hands on the pictures of my friend Gecko-7 and I am now finally capable of doing my blog about Galacon just three weeks late.... hehehe

Anyhow the produces of me attending Galacon was slightly different, as the announced guests just weren't as interesting as last year nor where there any overly interesting community panels.

    The EQG Rainbow Rocks Clip

    Hello people,

I think I am a little late to that party, since I didn't watch due to not being wanted to be spoilered in a way or another, but since the clip probably takes place right at the start of the movie, it probably will be most likey fine.

Here's the video in case some of you still haven't seen it.

The EQG Rainbow Rocks Clip · 10:58am Aug 20th, 2014

Hello people,

I think I am a little late to that party, since I didn't watch due to not being wanted to be spoilered in a way or another, but since the clip probably takes place right at the start of the movie, it probably will be most likey fine.

Here's the video in case some of you still haven't seen it.

Asides the improved animations for the human character, while they aren't too big, there still there. You can see it in the way the actual main villian moves or her expressions. But I wanted to talk more about what the clip shows us storywise.

Of course there is the obivious stuff like connection to the old movie; Celestia using Earth as Australia; two dumb side villians, who probably will ruin the plan by infighting; smart main villian, who I strangely enough really like. Her voice might be a little obnoxious, but her behaivour and lines just are so pure evil. HMM I LOVE HER.

But what I am most interested is in seeing what the villians actually are. Some are saying they're changelings due to the opening scene of the clip, where they feed on anger, though changelings as far as we know only feed on love and also they don't require to sing/hum to collect the emotions.
Other mentioned Flutterponies, because of the crystals each of them were wear, but I don't think so.

My personal opinion is something along the lines of sucubbi. Not a full out sucubbus, they couldn't do that in a children's show, but someone who could entrance ther victim. Something the main villian say right at the end of the clip: "and we're going to make them adore us." Sucubbi, going after what they actually are in mythology, are demons which entranced or enter their victim's dream and give them their most beloved vision while sucking their lifeforce dry. Some altertions of them feel of emotions rather than life force. I think there was one in the greek and one in the persian mythology, but I am not too sure about that. But there would be proof of that in the clip, seeing the opening scene is them sucking up anger. There also have been sucubbi which used songs to capture their prey, also in the opening scene. I don't really have a explantion for the crystal, maybe something like a anti elements or just simply a container they created to store their power?

Another interesting thing is the connection to the old movie. As we can see, quite obiviously, the clip takes place right at the final battle of the old EQG movie. Now what's interesting about that is, A) Sunset Shimmer and that trio must obiviously not be aware of each other. and B) The time difference between the trio and Sunset Shimmer must be big. Really big.
Both points have interesting options. For A) that could mean there are more MLP Villians in the MLP Earth, as it is Celestia's Australia. There also might be a bigger flow of information outside what we were shown in the first movie. Maybe Principle Celestia and Princess Celestia might actually talk to each other, discussing the state of their repectiv worlds?
B) also plays into the more villians point, but more importantly if Celestia and Luna can send bad guys to Australia, who says that the alicorns/gods before them couldn't, maybe Earth has been the prison for traitors or enemies for millenniums?

Anyhow that's how I see it, feel free to have a options. I can't stop you from having one, but I can do my best to ignore it. *insert horrible joke drum roll*

Tripl3M, out.

The "Equestria's Australia" thing is extra interesting when you consider that magic is a lot weaker in the humanized world (which still isn't exactly Earth)...

As for succubi, I feel like they may use the trope but the villains will be fundamentally human, not some new and different breed/species/race/etc. They're just evil wizards, who use music to drain energy (of some kind) from people (and that's terrible.) All ponies are the same kind of human, after all.

2385610 I was going for my mythology argument mostly of the short intro scene, where they suck up the mist, which I think is the people's anger. That being the reason why I thought they might be some being connected to emotions, which isn't too far fetch as there are the changelings.

Though considering Tirek and Sombra, I could see some evil wizard/mage guy as well as a fitting option for them.

Happy to see that someone was able to see the analogy I drew there, but yeah. The only difference I think between the historical Australia and the Equestrian Australia is that the Principle Celestia acts as a warden, something Australia had in from of a huge ocean. It will very interesting to see what this movie brings to the MLP Lore, maybe even a completely new view on the Alicorns and their relation towards eachother and the ponies, maybe even more history information.

They are apparently Sirens. Or at least, that's what I hear of them the most. Different lore than Succubi to be sure.:twistnerd:

I doubt Principal Celestia is actually on the same level of Sunbutt herself and was just used for the sake of having an authority figure look like her in the school. I could be wrong of course...

... And yes, Australia does have a lot of freaky stuff...:pinkiecrazy:

2386347 Sirens would fit into the theme of music, but have very little to do with emotions other than capturing people's "hearts" with their songs.

As Pricinple Sunbutt, she's definitelly not as powerful as Princess Sunbutt, but we have seen that fake Mane5+Twilight to do some freaky magic stuff, so maybe Principle Sunbutt could be a avatar of Princess Sunbutt or just an alter ego with out the Sunbutt magic.
Is there any need to talk about Moonass? Not really.. She rather unimportant so far in either world. Poor Moonass.

Sunbutt *giggles*

I only disagree with the Sucubbi thing as the "victims" were always asleep. The Dazzlings victims are all clearly awake, no cat naps there. Also due to the G rated nature of the audience in general I doubt there will be any nocturnal emissions referenced in this movie. :rainbowlaugh:

It's why I prefer the Sirens/Flutter Pony theory. You completely over look their wings on the toy boxes, which are of a different design from Rainbow Dash's. :rainbowhuh:
Not even Cadence's wings, the only multi-colored-when-non-powered-up-wings, look anything like what is on those boxes.

There is precedent for these wings.
G4 has that episode where Twilight gives Rarity those lovely translucent wings.
Then there are the non-cartoon-ized Summer Wing Ponies
