Writing a stealth sequence · 3:39pm Aug 16th, 2014
Whilst writing chapter four I've stumbled on a bit of a problem. I am bringing back Shade (the guy at the end of Chapter 2 who is sent to capture Spyro), a character with a shady and mysterious background, and as of yet I have not revealed his race yet. Any way, I am trying to write a sequence where he sneaks into the Castle of Dracovale, and I wanted to do it in a competent yet exciting way. The Guards, despite the relaxed tone of the celebrations, are very competent, some of the brightest minds in among the banner men of the Palentine Family, and thus a lot of the conventional routes inside are checked and thought of. Going anywhere near the guards would run the risk of being detected. But there is one part of the castle that is completely unguarded, the north west side, a massive tower that hangs over a steep ravine, but is also is also 20 feet away from an outcrop of rock jutting out from the mountains. And some large windows dotting the towers, think of the windows on the sides of the towers at Hogwarts. How would you break into Dracovale?
if he has wigs and doesn't want to run the risk of the flapping being heard, he could glide
if he is a unicorn, and is skilled in stealth, a silent short distance teleport should do the trick
if he is an earth pony, a running jump could be possible, if he has something to glide
if he is a human, he could build some sort of grappling hook and get across with that
that takes care of every race I could think of, provided the outcropping is well above a window
2375427 he wants to stay undetected and i would think murder is a dead giveaway, and he doesn't need a distraction, if the part of the castle he wants to go through is unguarded
