    My oh.

Twenty four weeks later, how does time allow itself to move so quickly. I've forgotten to do so many things I'm supposed to do, but oh well. Take it as it comes, worry less, do more. What a strange summer.
    Oh, well. New song!

    Oh my.

Welp, for some reason, I haven't been here a lot lately, but finally settled down and read some of my favourite stories' new updates.
Feeling good~ nice to see there are still new, good, content being produced. Hmm. (Time to go story hunting, and clean up my favourites)
Maybe I'll throw up a story here, as well.
    Anyway:

Why do I use this as my blog?

Well, today while recording a new song I discovered that my current audio card (non asio) had a record latency issue, and that would explain why I couldn't hit any of my marks perfectly, making it all much messier than it needed to be.
Which in turn means that my newest song 'Sunshine Wedding' has this issue all over it, which could explain why I was never really happy with it.

(Didn't realize this doesn't autosize into a READ MORE thing, woops)
I decided to indulge myself and write up a quickie about my most used instruments~

This was my very first bass, I got it pretty cheap from a relative who wanted me to start playing. Before then I'd never played anything, but had fondled a few basses (and briefly played a single note during a music class in primary? Maybe?), and had really enjoyed the feel of those fat strings. It's a fender MiM 1992, and was pretty beat up even when I got it, then I beat it some more.

At some point I changed out the pickups for some hotter seymour duncans, everything else left stock. or well, almost everything. The jack was smashed in at some point. Poor guy. There's a faded painting of GIR over the bridge, that I did back in... 2006, maybe. The red tape was probably added around 2004-2005. A mistake, as pretty large areas of the bass is still sticky and icky as it keeps melting away. I keep having to clean it.

The stickers are Dir en Grey, the Studs (good good) and Like rats from a sinking ship. All good stuff, though Dir en Grey has become metal, somehow. Like rats members later formed "barren womb" (very good) and- "jesus fucking christ".

It's a beautiful sounding bass, and I adore precisions. I like a loud thumpy and rattly sound, which this does pretty well when it wants to. I haven't used it a lot on my pony stuff, but - I plan to use it more in the future. During my starting out period with this bass I played on a Peavey Series 400 with a Dynacord D-30 cabinet. I still use the Peavey 400. It's a pretty good transistor amp.

Now this is a guitar that I don't use very much, but one that I adore nontheless. It was a very cheap behringer strat that was given to me. It didn't sound very good, but it was a guitar to play on. I don't remember how long it took me before I modded it. When recording I usually borrowed my dad's guitar, which is probably why he gave me this one. I bought an SX Telecaster to use instead, after a - few years, I think.

I loved modding this thing, changing the tuners, and a long time later, probably around 2008-2009 I changed all the pickups with some I've gotten from friends, the stock bridge from the Telecaster and a GFS fake widerange bucker. It sounds pretty nice now. Currently it's tuned F#F#DDG#G#, and it sounds pretty good. It's the lead melody in the song I posted on my last blogpost actually.

The whole guitar is painted in waterbased acrylics, and I painted the back green with leftover paint from my little gir thing on the precision. The tremolo bridge was removed, and while looking at this I realize that the ground might not be reaching the strings anymore. I should fix that.

Around 2009 I painted the entire back of the neck white with pink and baby blue in a pattern, it was pretty cute, but hey acrylics wears away fast. I think I painted the fretboard a while before that, like a year maybe? I dunno. And it actually doesn't make it icky to play, somehow.

My main bass! (I am mainly a bassplayer) This is probably the instrument I've used the most, I love it so much. One day I decided I needed a jazzbass, the sound is just so nice. After saving some money and finally hitting the shops, as I was a teenager at the time it felt nice to finally buy something from a proper instrument shop, rather than just hanging out there, trying random instruments. I was looking at the cheapest fender's I could get my hands on, when the salesman told me his favourite in the price range was a Coxx Classic J60, a brand I've never heard about, but- it was very nice to play on, after trying it out I took it home.

It's been my main bass ever since, it had pretty decent stock pickups, but they're now exchanged with seymour duncan sjb 1's. At some point I broke the neck, I have no idea how, as it seems to have cracked in a way that I didn't notice, then over-night (probably) been pulled apart by the strings. So now it is sporting an all-parts neck~

Thu SX Telecaster~ probably my main guitar, this and the hofner are the ones I use the most. I have an Ibanez as well that I use, but not as much, but is almost a main as well. The first guitar I bought with my own money. SX's are pretty darn cheap, and I found this one in a ware-house shop of some sort. Which, luckily, meant I got to try them out first. I later exchanged the stock pickups with, again, seymour duncans.

I adore this guitar. The stickers are pretty much bands I like, and things I like. There's a Razer sticker on it, since my keyboard came with one, but- eh, yeah. I use another keyboard now, one that doesn't eat my T's when I type fast~ (I am a fan of vintage computers, so I went back to a nice PS/2 Mechanical keyboard) Luna has seem some really rough wear on this one. The smudge above on the bass-side of the strings used to be a cut up postal note. I used to buy a lot of CD's from japan, so I put part of the EMS postage note on the guitar for some reason. All gone now.

Although this is a fine playing guitar, sx is not reliable. I bought two SX Basses to use as backups or beaters during a school year of performing music, but- the pickups were awful (The E string being more or less inaudible), and one of them was so top heavy I couldn't let go of it or it'd topple over and fall off the strap. But getting a telecaser wrong is hard work, so it worked out pretty well for that.

I really wanted a jazzmaster, so I bought this. It was pretty affordable. Then the squire vintage modifieds started coming out (I was sure these were labeled fender for a little while?). I love it, though. It's nice and different~ The pickups aren't the best in the world, but I have no idea what to replace them with. This is my second main, so I've used it a lot of my pony songs, it's pretty good for the darker, fuller tones. And desert rythms, as I like to call them! Plonk plonk.

I drew a deer in a bridle.

I have some more guitars, including a banjo and some old auction lounge accoustic guitars. A fivestring seen in the background there, that I have never really used. It came with actives, now has an 8 string passive guitar humbucker in it, but it just doesn't sound veyr good. I still have hope for it, but- we'll see. Not pictured is a very very wonderful bass that I love, but one that is not in my house. A Fender BASS VI from their budget line~ (Mexico? I don't know.) I always dreamt of owning one of these, and then, bam, a nice cheaper version comes out. Now there's another one with different pickups, more vintage-looking, which makes me all wanty wanty. But I really adore that bass. It can really pull off the dark bassy parts with some addition of full, nice brighter tones. I love it.

I've slowed down on buying things, as I've bought some things I don't need over the years, but- now I really want a Fender Starcaster (yay for fender's sudden release of a lot of these old birds as budget line), Jazzmaster, Jaguar and a Gibson RD Bass. And maybe- maybe a Coronado- oh man, I want it all.

Shame the re-issue changed the pickups and added a centre block, else I'd be all over it.
