You went to see Transformers 4 and didn't liked it? You deserve it! · 1:33am Jul 29th, 2014

First of all I would like to state something. I actually enjoy Michael Bay's style.
Bad Boys I and II are some of my favorites 'watch with friends' movies, I consider that The Island has a good plot, Pearl Harbour has likable characters and I used to watch Armageddon with my grandpa every time we could, so I have to actually thank M. Bay for those pieces that gave me something to watch and enjoy. Mister Bay, tanks for that.

Now, the reason for the tittle.

I have a very heterogeneous mix of feelings towards Bayformers. The first movie was actually good and a personal Crowning Moment of AWESOME! seeing Optimus and Megatron exchanging blows in the silver screen. Also the action is actually good.

Believe it or not, I was Megatron in that situation when watching the first Transformers film.

But the cinemadrenaline cooled down, I realized that the plot had some big holes, the characters didn't have any dimension and some parts were simply pointless. With the time I have come to simply say 'hey, is not Oscar material but I can have fun watching it. It's just regular'. To this day, I still like the first one but more and more in 'guilty pleasure' territory.

Then, Revenge of the Fallen happened. I didn't managed to watch it on the cinema but I rented it after the video release. I still regret wasting my money on that. It was exactly the same movie from the first one, but at the same time worse. Shia Labeouf was more annoying, the racial stereotypes were more evident, Megan Fox wasn't even trying to act, Optimus Prime was turned into a psycho, Megatron was painfully reduced from 'merciless conqueror' to 'minion', the Fallen wasn't even that menacing, Jetfire was an overly long bad joke, Devastator was the biggest let down I've ever saw and the plot holes were now plot canyons. There was no frigging redeeming thing in plot nor dialogue. The only thing right about it were the effects and even that was inferior to the previous one.

Then Dark Side of the Moon happened and that's where I draw the line. No more. I just know it because it was on the cable one night and curiosity got the best of me. At first I felt some levels of an emotion that resembled hope when Megan Fox wasn't around and Labeouf was actually acting. I liked Soundwave's new design and Shockwave lived up to the hype. But all went downhill after realizing it was the same movie again. I... really don't want to talk about it but lets just say that viewing that 'movie' I came to the decision that Michael Bay would never receive another peso/dollar from me for doing another Transformers movie. I was done.

And now, everybody is saying "Ugh, I watched Transformers 4, it sucked."

The only answer I can get is; Really? It sucked as badly as Revenge of the Fallen and Dark Side of the Moon? Are you also gonna say me that the whole franchise sucked from the beginning too? Are you seriously going to repeat the exact same thing you said when DSotM came out? The exact same crap you said with RotF? Are you seriously telling me that after only one original movie and two carbon copies, you didn't see that coming? Are you trying to be serious by telling me that it took you four movies to understand that Michael Bay, even if he can be a good director when he tries, is not suitable to direct this franchise anymore?

The sad thing here is just a year ago Pacific Rim was on theaters, the best frigging robot movie of the universe. The only occidental mecha story that can be matched with the Japan versions and even surpass them. Pacific Rim showed us how to do a good giant robots movie, an AWESOME! sci-fi war movie, a BADASS! disaster movie. A F*CKING EPIC! MOVIE! USING THE SAME ELEMENTS THAT TRANSFORMERS!

AND THERE YOU ARE, YOU IMBECILE! WASTING DEL TORO EFFORTS OF SAVING A GENRE BY GIVING MONEY TO THE BAD ONE! ONLY TO COMPLAIN ABOUT IT SECONDS LATER AFTER LEAVING THE THEATER! WHAT THE F*CK IS WRONG PEOPLE?!

Look, if you went to see it and you liked it, good for you. It means that you can pay to watch the exact same movie four times and enjoy it, I have no problems with how do you spend (and waste) your money. But if happens that you went to watch it, after watching the other three, only to complain, you don't have any f*cking right to do so. You saw for the other three, you knew that this one was going to be the same and yet you are still paying to see something you know you don't like.

The worst part? The second case is the most common I've seen. I've seen way more people saying how they hated this movie, after seeing the other three. THE GUYS SAYING HOW BAD WHERE TRANSFORMERS 1, 2 AND 3 ARE NOW SURPRISED THAT THE FOURTH ONE IS THE SAME F*CKING THING!

I shouldn't be rating about this, I know better to just ignore when a bad movie comes out and let it die into oblivion. But for some reason this one is not dying, and it's sad. It's sad that Transformers have been degenerated into a synonym of 'generic blockbuster' and it's sad to think how Michael Bay is not even trying anymore when he once tried to be a good director. It's just sad, and I needed to share it. Thanks for reading.

I actually liked Transformers 4.

Good for you, you went to see something and you liked it.
I swear to God that this is not sarcasm, regardless of how it sounds.

2324464 I know. I think the biggest saving grace was the dinobots. Not a lot of screen time I know but they would've drawn attention away from the main characters.

2324484
My problem is not the people who liked the movie, or the movie itself. I already made my mind about it.
This post is directed to all those people who watched the other three, didn't like them and yet they though this one was going to be any different. To all those people who say to hate Michael Bay and what he has done to Transformers but still the go to the theater and give their money to watch the exact same movie, and then they have the nerve of complaining about it.

2324495 I know. Can you pm your personal opinion of it?

2324502
Don't think so. I don't have any new opinion towards TF 4 that wasn't already said. Mostly because after Dark Side of the Moon I decided to not pay for watching this one.

If you thing I'm complaining about something I haven't watched then answer me this. It is really THAT different from the other three? If you can honestly say to me, with the world around as our witnesses that this movie has something new to offer, somethin that isn't a carbon copy of the same fraging thing again, I may believe you and try to watch it.

JB, you have been a good friend with me, so please don't take the following comment as personal.

As I said above, my real problem with all of this is that M. Bay have sold us the exact same thing four times. You may think that TF 3 was the best of the three and you may be right. But for me, I just saw the same recycled scenes from the previous two, and I know for sure that the fourth is not that different. I'm not gonna waste my time and money watching something I know I will not like.

And this is not like with FiM. I didn't knew what was going on and when I watched it, it was new, it was different, it used some themes already existing but in new ways. The same with fan's fictions. It was the same characters, but doing something new, going where canon wasn't going, exploring and being original.

Bay used to do that, Transformers used to be about that. Both did actually that in the first film. But not anymore. Tell me, there was anything, anything really new and innovating in any of the following ones after 2007?

2324643
My point indeed.
Philosophical themes with souls and creators? Revenge of the Fallen.
Autobots being hunted and/or kicked out of the planet? 2007, Revenge of the Fallen and Dark Side of the Moon.
I believe you when you tell me that Wahlberg did a good job, but one good actor in a bad written movie is Ryan Reynolds in Green Lantern all over again.

Again, I shouldn't be this affected, but seeing all of this is just-- Maybe it's just me. Give me a moment and I'll be back to trowing posts about BADASS! and MUSIC! and Trixie.

2324585 Well it's not forced as we get a glimpse at the creatures who possibly made the cube and in a sense we get to see the ones who MADE The Transformers themselves. The Dinobots are upgraded to knight status and they were smart enough to keep the relationship between Grimlock and Optimus like brothers.... if brothers were allowed to brutally murder each other and able to wield weapons. Now my only complaint is the new "upgraded" Transformers when they transform. It seems like a cheap way to show off CGI but the new decepticons seem really menacing. The biggest menace is in Galvatron and it's not because he's a tough fighter, he is, but because of one thing. Where there's Galvatron... Unicron is never to far behind.

2324724
You know what, this weekend I'll go to theater with some friends, if there isn't anything else better I may enter to watch it. But don't count too much on it. Galvatron and Grimlock set my hopes high but the same did Devastator and I'm still hurt for that letdown.

I love Transformers, I love G1, Beat Wars, Armada, Animated, Prime. I love the IDW's comics and Deviant Art's Mosaic. That's why Bayformers depresses me so much, because I actually believed in it and since the second one it has been a massive let down..

2324752 I've not heard of Mosaic.
