My opinion on deleting comments that you don't like

This is a controversial topic and I will give it the gravitas it deserves.

You can't win friends and influence people by deleting comments. Deleting comments is not a tool that can be used to get your way. As has been pointed out by site moderators themselves so many times before, the use of the delete button will not allow you to win arguments. Comment deletion is a tool that is insufficiently sophisticated to understand the complexity of the fandom. Deleting comments does not change minds and hence cannot win you respect. Deletion is not equipped to sway another user's opinion with logos, pathos, or ethos. so many times but it is not getting to me. Even blocking after deleting comments as used by Comment by waterpear deleted is not up to the task of getting your story approved. You will never make me crack. Manipulation is a task of sufficient complexity that it cannot be performed by deleting comments. Even RainbowBob cannot earn respect by by deleting comments. Every time you attempt to delete a comment on a thread, the unholy child weeps the blood of virgins, and Literally Hitler favorites your story. Deleting comments summons tainted souls into the realm of the living. Comment deletion and charisma go together like love, marriage, and ritual infanticide. The [center] cannot hold it is too late. The force of deletion and quality comments together in the same conceptual space will destroy your mind like so much watery putty. If you delete comments you disagree with you are giving in to Them and their blasphemous ways which doom us all to inhuman toil for the One whose Name cannot be expressed in the Basic Multilingual Plane, he comes. I agree with you wholeheartedly on this. The only time I've ever deleted a comment was when I hit the wrong button on my phone by accident. Otherwise, all you achieve by deleting comments is getting other people to assume that you are immature and can't deal with criticism. You get a follow for this blog post my friend.
