Okay, so I know I'm not exactly a big writer here on FIMFic, so I highly doubt anyone will even read this blog, but I feel the need to make this issue known irregardless of whether or not it's actually made known.

Was in a good mood today, for once. A real good mood--that's not usual for me, I'm normally pissed right the fuck off at one thing or another.

I was in such a good mood, in fact, that I thought I might give Skyrim another try. See if maybe the almighty internet could at last provide me with an actual solution to my random (and frequent) CTDs. About an hour of searching through all kinds of advice threads (almost all of them from November, for fuck's sake) later, I thought I finally had the answer--maybe my v-ram was too low! Upped the v-ram, started up the game with my mods installed and shit.

Works just fucking fine. Ten minutes, fifteen minutes even Twenty minutes(!!) spent playing the game, and all of it without a single crash. I'm totally elated, right? Overjoyed that I might just be able to play this game on PC so I can try out the awesome mods and shit. I realize that one of my newer mods requires the Skyrim Script Extender to work, so I shut down the game (after playing for about thirty minutes with no CTD, the longest I've ever made it) to go install the thing.

Install it, everything works out just fine. I start up Skyrim and CTD 5 minutes in.

Que the Rage.

Why the fuck can't Bethesda be bothered to fix the problems with their goddamn games? It's even worse than Oblivion was, and that was buggy as hell on launch! I can't even play the game, for fuck's sake! I paid sixty fucking dollars for this game and I can't play it without crashing every other minute. I upgraded the hardware of my rig for this game. I installed all kinds of drivers and other shit that took for-fucking-ever, all for this game. I more than matched the minimum requirements in every regard, because I wanted to be able to play at at least medium quality. I shelled out some 200 dollars altogether (not including the game itself!) simply for the sake of Playing. This. Game. And I can't. I can't even play it without mods!

Even despite all of this, the CTDs aren't the worst part. The worst part is that Bethesda (well known for putting out massively open-world rpgs with a massive amount of bugs present on launch) didn't even bother to put in an error report system. So now I CTD... and I don't know why. No idea in the world for why this bullshit happens.

I can't even fathom the thought process behind this decision. That someone could be so completely asinine as to not include a bug report system in their 100%-guaranteed-to-be-buggy-as-hell game positively astounds and disgusts me.

No feels for the rest of it? I know at one point this was a problem literally everyone was experiencing. It was caused by Skyrim not being set up to allow for accessing more than 2gb of physical memory while playing, if I recall correctly. As soon as the game tried to draw on more than 2gb of the available RAM, it shut down for reasons unfathomable. Eventually the community came out with a fix for it, but then steam went and added a "better" fix to their update queue and now the community-made fix doesn't work. :ajbemused: I'm almost certain that's the actual problem, but I'll be damned if I can find an actual fix to go along with it.

Now that you mention it, I never actually played Skyrim, but I swear, MW3's inability to host a stable server that won't just randomly freeze up or self-destruct in the middle of a match can get to me. Not to mention how bad they nerfed explosives, and that there's only one minigun in the whole freakin' game! Then add in all the dropshooters, quickscopers, and lag-f*gs, and the game's almost not worth playing any more. Then the fact that Galactus is so overpowered in UMVC3, and that some Arkham City challenge maps are completely unfair, and that Mario Kart has comeback A.I., and.... Long story short, I share your rage about decent games being completely FUBAR because the companies that make them can't figure out and fix their own problems. :flutterrage:
