Vacation, Children, and Delays! · 8:46pm Jun 12th, 2014
Hello and welcome!
Firstly, I'd like to apologize to whomever was looking forward to a quick release for the next chapter of Gypsy Tales. I've been a bit preoccupied at home with my six year old son and three year old daughter, both of which are fans of the show. My son will be graduating from kindergarten next week and in between Home and School meetings, work, and the wear and tear that two young children will put on you.. I've just been unable to finish writing the rest of the chapter.
I sat down today to write out as much as I could and things are shaping up really nicely, even though I had to rewrite half of the chapter thanks to my son. I let him read the first chapter of Gypsy Tales recently and he's really excited for the next part and when I had mentioned that I planned to feature Rainbow Dash in the next chapter.. well.. he had a small fit. Dash is not his favorite pony, you see, and that needed to be fixed.
"Daddy! Gypsy has to meet Twilight next! Then Rainbow Dash.. then Applejack.. then Rarity because Rarity is your favorite Daddy.. and THEN Fluttershy!"
If you haven't guessed, Twilight is his favorite.
So. Yes. Little brat changed my lineup and threw a huge wrench into how I had things planned.. but not to worry. The next chapter is about half finished and well on the way to being completed. I've already decided on the story that Gypsy will tell and the snack they'll share so hopefully within the next two weeks it'll be ready.
I've also found that writing Twilight is actually really, really fun. My style of writing is a little rigid and old fashioned but it suits a logical character enough that I'm more than pleased with the result.
Maybe if I get enough interest/replies to this post, I'll throw up a little sneak preview of how I've written her.
Anyway, I'm on vacation all week next week so I should have plenty of time to sit myself down and work as hard as I can on getting this finished a little faster.
As always, I appreciate anyone that takes the time to read anything I write and I'm grateful for your comments.
Take your time! After all family comes first. I, personally, am more than willing to wait for your wonderful chapters. Also, I don't find your writing style "old fashioned" at all it is an absolute pleasure to read. (your kids sound adorable)

Thanks Maru. I really appreciate the understanding.
My son is pretty much a huge pain in the butt, but I honestly couldn't imagine writing this for anyone other than him. He gave me some pretty fantastic ideas on how to approach each character too, but he really loves his Twilight waifu.. even if he doesn't know what that means. lol
He's got himself the Build-a-Bear Twilight and he sleeps with her every night. He even told me, "Daddy, Twilight is good for sleeping because she can keep away the bad dreams with her magic. Princess Twilight is my favorite."
I am glad that you like the style I write in.. I draw a lot of influences from more traditional writers, guys like Lloyd Alexander, and even though it's weird writing about ponies with it (at least to me).. it seems to be working! The chapter is a little more than 50% finished and I'm finally starting to get comfortable with writing Pinkie. I have to admit, your encouragement has helped a lot. I'm really not used to people responding so favorably to what I write so thank you.
I'm hoping to get this thing finished by the end of the week! I made fantastic progress today and yesterday and this chapter has a lot going on and the beginning of a little side story with Muscat.
