Signs the Opposition has Lost the Battle · 5:01pm Jun 1st, 2014
This is actually not a reference to anything that happened recently in FIMFiction, this is a reference to things I see every day on YouTube, on Facebook, on 4chan, and everywhere. I'm not a creationist, but the main claim of this comic still applies.
What's going on here is that when stupid people run out of smart arguments, which they inevitably do, they resort to stupid insults and harsh language. That's a sign that all they got left is garbage. Don't take it seriously. This should be common knowledge but it seems that online, a lot of people take it too seriously. C'mon, how are you supposed to read "I hope you die on an airplane while gargling mouthwash and develop testicular cancer!" and not laugh a little? If the opposition is stupid enough to resort to something that unintentionally hilarious, that's a sign that you totally won.
As for the creation and evolution subject, I believe in evolution guided by God, but too many people accept or deny evolution without even knowing how it even works! You can believe whatever you want about it, but educated claims about the subject are too few.

True, now that you mention it; this is kind of my way of saying that my heart goes out to all those blokes who take such epic stupidity seriously on YouTube and Facebook.

Yeah, I usually don't.
... I don't get it

Basically, if someone is throwing a massive tantrum at you on YouTube, then don't take it too hard; it means you've got that whiner cornered.
2166072 Ahhh, I didn't realize that Youtube commenters have come to represent all of modern society. Oh dear, I suppose civilization really IS coming to an end then

Dude, this is just me sympathizing with people who take insults too seriously. People use insults when there's nothing better to say, but the insulted's feelings get hurt.
2166110 *edit: Comment deleted* you know what, I'm sorry. You're right, you're free to believe whatever you wish.

Don't worry, you have a bit of a point; me and some of my friends worry too much about this kind of stuff. Grown people seldom ever do the same shit in real life that kids do on the internet.
2166284 I know plenty of 'Grown Up' people who get worked up over similar matters.
The most terrifying part of growing up is learning that there really is no stage at which you suddenly 'get it' - everyone is making it up as they go along.
In fact, you can't even learn from other people's mistakes. Oh sure, you can guess what to look out for, but you won't learn until you do it, suffer the consequences, get up and dust yourself off.
I honestly believe that spirited debate is the best, most fulfilling possible way to learn anything. Watching knowledgable people disagree about a subject and, in good faith, attack it from all angles can be as enjoyable as it is educational. That's why I find the comments section of virtually any website--especially YouTube--so depressing.
I disagree with you on divinely guided evolution. I feel that the Darwinian Model of natural selection explains evolution so elegantly, that adding a creator or a guiding hand of any kind is superfluous; an unnecessary addition that detracts from the theories' whole. I know that if we were to debate it, I would have very little chance of changing your mind, just as you would be very unlikely to change mine. I’m certain, however, each of us would learn something in the process.
I think the problem is that most people see debate as a competition; something akin to a football match or a battle. Most people are too focused on their side winning, so they’ll use whatever means that they can to achieve victory. This includes using techniques that never have a place in respectable rhetoric: straw men, contextomy, appeals to ignorance, correlation fallacies, and the dreaded argumentum ad hominem--i.e., I’m gonna insult you until I’m proven right.
