i was working on my a fic the other day and could sure use some advice.
not much really.
im trying to decide whether or not to change a scene.
let me cut to the baseline here.
im employing the idea of the princess being able to change between a powered and weakene/normal state.
i debating about how i should portray their normal state.
i know that the show has portrayed luna as being quite small, and i was wondering how dedicated to that idea are most bronies.
that is to say, would anyone be against the idea of an alicorn naturally being large, and so when luna is in her normal state she would stay roughly the same size, rather than shrinking to the size of her first appearance.
i ask this cause it decides the changes in my fanfic, i currently have her remaining large and i rather enjoy how it is done, but if the changing in size is more widely recognised as a commonly headcanon thing, i would have no problem with altering it, i like sticking to atleast the more basic headcanons among the general concensus.
im not personally in contact with any other bronies, so i come to you.
anypony who gives some advice i would gladly mention and thank when i post my fic, whenever that may be.

Personally, I really like Luna's smaller self and I'm not really sure how I feel about the Luna in Luna Eclipsed. But you're right, I think the alicorns should definitely look grander than the other ponies. Otherwise they're just unicorns with wings or pegasi with horns. There definitely needs to be a difference in the two. But it's whatever you want to do, really. I don't think anyone would be ridiculously judgmental if you decide Luna has one form and it's the big powerful alicorn as opposed to the smaller Luna from the second part of the pilot. What were you thinking would be the more powerful state if you didn't use the smaller Luna as the normal state?

rather what i was going for is that, in either situation the moonpowered luna will look like her lunareclipsed self. the key difference is that in her normal state she would be either be 1her initial small self, or 2a larger version of that smaller self.
and that normal state is never adorned in public,(in my fic that is) it is her form behind closed doors and usually only when she is off duty. so when she is seen by other ponies she will always be in her powerful moonprincess form.
i would have no problem at all with her normal state being either way cause it really only affects one scene and it wouldnt be much to change it. i just have more fun with being within the general headcanon, so ill probably get a few opinions on it before making the decision. if more like her being smaller as yourself i will gladly change it.
I'm interested to see where this whole series of ideas is going to go.
this is actually pertaining a rather small part of the story, i hope i didnt make it seem liken this was going to be a super actiony fic. im hoping it wont be to long until i post the first chapter, i need to rewrite some parts still. the way it will be set up is that the first chapter will kind of set the scene, and after that they will be nonlinear stand alone chapters following it. but it will all be in the same setting and from the perspective of frolicsome ofcourse. ;)
i have a few other ideas for future chapters, but for the most part im going to write them as they come, so it wont be any regular schedule. im just the kind of writer that writes whenever an idea shows up.
