Of course, today, we will be discussing the VERY famous "My Little Dashie" by ROBCakeran53, but first I feel like talking to you about tangential things, as usual. And I figure you wouldn't be reading somepony's blog unless you wanted a slice of life or an opinion now and again. So here is one of many admissions: emotional connections and the achievement of them in writing honestly perplexes me. Not to say I don't feel them, oh no, I feel them more than most, but the problem I have is that emotions escape my writing, and reading over some stories I've written, the emotions feel somehow flat and uninteresting. This becomes something of a problem for me, and always seems to discourage me in my writing a short time in, hence why I try write short stories because then I don't have time to worry about that. But, unfortunately, the story soon takes on a life of its own, and before I know it I have two text document pages staring me in the face that have set up an epic that would take many more to finish.
I'm bringing this all up now, because of the story I'm reviewing, "My Little Dashie", has story and emotion weaves into every page and doesn't stop until the last line. This story is the one that, by far, amazes me the most when I look at it from an analytical standpoint. I'd read through it in a few hours, and I swear that I was crying for longer than it took to read the story. Five hours. And I'm not ashamed to admit that when I finally stopped crying, I sat back down and read it again because I wasn't done crying, not by a longshot. If you like to believe you're hardened, then read this tale. Your heart will melt, and you'll be reduced to tears. And as sad as I make it sound, it's nothing of the sort. It is with pure, unadulterated joy that I bawled like a child for five hours, and it is in joy that I read it two more times to keep those tears coming.
You may not realize it, but everyone needs to cry. It's good and healthy for the soul. And this story is just what the doctor ordered! I hope you can fit it into your day, or he'll even take a day off to read it, and I promise it'll be just what you need to remind you that, as bad as life gets, there's always a little Rainbow!
What's next? Well, it's a little surprise... Don't worry though, I'll link it to this somehow...
