Spoiler warning! Authors notes and thoughts while writing! Read the story first!

A/N: three. Scrapped. Iterations. Three times I had a story at least as long as this and ended up scrapping the whole thing. Jeez. Anyway, here's my whole opinion and thoughts on the story. Again, HUGE spoiler warning.
shit! Was that dramatic, or what?! Man, that was way different than I'd planned it! Jeez! Getting a little more comfortable with the gore now, though i think it may be a bit before i start disemboweling someone, and even the last bit, though intentionally so, felt a wee bit gruesome.. That fight scene was really hard to write without the drama, so I'm sorry I that watered it down too much for some of you, but without motivation, however half-assed, these accursed ponies will not fight! Grrrrr.... They both just crossed there arms and refused! So I had to make it nopony's choice this time.
With the combat styles, I had a major challenge. Rarity was simple enough, as I simply wanted to use daggers, seeing as I never really got an opportunity. But then I had to balance that out with Pinkie. Now, as you could tell, I couldn't resist using her reality breaking powers at least a little. Sadly, that made her vastly overpowered and I had to  scrap three fights before it felt right, which was when I finally fell upon the parameters I figured out for Pinkie's ability to disappear and reappear. She can't simply teleport. She has to actually disappear from sight, THEN teleport. This is true of canon Pinkie as well, as she only ever teleports once out of sight. Yes, I have figured out Pinkie Pie logic. COME AT ME, BRO!
Anyway, to balance Pinkie's reality bending powers, I had to give Rarity speed and prowess equal to that of a blade that had the experience of hundreds of years of battles, and a mysterious non-entity which could actually detect her wherever she was, if vaguely.
yes, I got really focused on the weapons again, and I almost felt like Rarity's had to be irresponsibly gaudy, though saner heads prevailed. I find that design enraptures me. The clearer I see the details, the more effectively I can use them. I focused on Rarity here, as I felt she was at a disadvantage with Pinkie's reality powers, which I of course had to explain as the whole half-imp thing, which lent heavily towards making her darker in general, including the weapons, which I made as a foil to and to be foiled by Rarity's own brighter colored weapons.
The problem that I had with this fight was leveling the playing field. It wasn't as simple as removing their magic, because then Rarity would have a distinct advantage over the now depowered Pinkie, so I had to balance it way out and make it a relatively even match without too many contrivances. I chose the glaive for Pinkie, as I had originally wanted her to be on the offensive, which failed as that particular fight ended in two moves, Rarity knocking the glaive aside, sliding the blade down the shaft and sticking her. Over WAY too quickly. So I established its usage as basically a bo staff with blade for convenience as far as the fighting style. The idea of having Pinkie appearing behind Rarity and that being her downfall was the plan from the beginning. Though exactly how close she was and what she was using was much debated in the violent corner of my brain. That was actually the moment I decided who would win. This entire time it has been completely up in the air until literally the last minute. I could have had her head lopped off, easily. However, the tragic storyline playing in my head didn't allow for such an occurrence, and that stuff happened...
Hopefully this was satisfactory. Oh, and just so you know, there will be no established canon here. Whatever feels like it fits for each battle will be the tailor-made set that they will use for that battle. Whatever makes the fights as close to an even match as possible.
I'm honestly hoping for a particular pairing here, just so that I can have some really gorey stuff that can be (believably) survived. I won't tell you, however, you'll have to guess. If I see it, though, I'm jumping at it...
Oh, and yeah, that demon slayer plot point I had to pull right fresh out of the idea bucket. It was the only thing that made them even. *shrug*
Maybe it's a compulsion in my brain, but I simply can't have the ponies fight to the death outright. It needs backstory and explanation before anything can happen. Mostly for the sake of keeping them vaguely evenly matched, but still... I'd say it adds more than it takes.
Somebody stop me from writing this Author blog post! It's getting longer than the story! Anyway, now waiting for new requests for the next chapter in this series!
In other news, those of you who care about what I do other than writing ponies, allow me to inform you, happily, that robcakeran53 ( for the noobs out there, that's the guy who wrote My Little Dashie) has released a new fic, which I have just read the first chapter of, as well as 'oh to be old again', by Minalkra, which is way better than anything I write, so go read that. Also, 'the memoirs of a reality jumper' by Techogre has been updated and I happily consumed that as well about a week ago, and it's still sitting on my brain.

Oh dear... I hope it's just the late hour that's causing the psycho freak in me to come out, but... I suddenly want to write a torture fic... Brrr... Just many frightening, gory scenes... Yeah, imma sleep now and hope the madness goes away...
