Rainbow after the storm (of tears!) · 3:06pm May 29th, 2012
Well, after a rather emotional reading of "Rainbow after the storm" (interrupted, but yet equally assisted by my being bedridden and having nothing to do but read the past few days but more on that later.) I have finally come around to writing this review on my new, hard earned iPod, making this a thousand times more convenient than the hour a day I once got.
But on to the story. Never in my life, not once, could I have said from reading the two short one-offs that came off of the APR storyline, could I have ever told you that I expected something of this emotional magnitude and masterful storytelling to come out of such a simple premise. An alternate ending with four words that brought me back to my fandom after reading the most terrifying fic known to our community: What if Rainbow lived?
It's such a simple concept, and in stroke of literary genius, Mr. Milesprower06 has delivered a work of fiction that has kept me awake to finish the last six chapters three hours later, unable to put it down and put it off for tomorrow, and I can tell you my body was telling me to go to sleep two and a half hours ago.
And, of course, I couldn't simply "sleep on it" before writing this. This is a fantastic fic, and it should be on all of your reading lists the moment you have read this review. Actually, you've read enough of this review.
Go. Read this whole fanfiction series and then finish reading this review, anything else I say would just be spoiling the story, but for the sake of this being a review, I'll give you a labored content warning of much heavier more descriptive clopping, though there are literally only two incidents, a smattering of violence , and a whole lot of things in your eye making you tear up... By which I mean I was blubbering like a baby and asking for more.
Wow. My first review series, been and gone, along with the major parts of my story as a fan of the series and the art of fanfiction. One big sigh of relief to get that all off of my chest, and I can tell you that there is much, much more to be written, and so many more tears to be shed, as the happy tears shed by this fic Segway me to the plan I have for our next journey, and not to worry, I will be doing a series on smaller fics that I can pick out from my reading list some day soon, I just want to get this one out first, and that epic, the one that, and I am one hundred percent happy to tell you left me gasping for air as I cried for 5 hours after simply thinking back to it (once again, happy tears): My Little Dashie

P.S. after remembering, recently, that no matter how passing a resemblance it may have to it, all Cupcakes related literature IS, as a matter of fact, completely banned from fimfiction, and understandably so. As my friends fanfic IS going to be a sequel to the story mentioned here after taking a dark turn (very dark mind
you, seriously, this is almost backtracking to Cupcakes, only with the same characters as this. In the beginning it starts out gory, but then it just gets twisted, so really, just don't read it unless you're a masochist like myself or really like to feel disgusted or scared, or at least disturbed. Obviously it won't be posted on here due to moderators wrath, possibly resulting in temp ban for the attempt, I will merely post a link for those interested when it is complete and say no more and leave its reading to your discretion.
P.P.S also, I am currently in progress on writing my very own fanfic. Now I'm not much of a story writer, as far as fiction, but I do hope it will be, at the very least, a moderate read. It is a Conversion Bureau fic, in the loosest sense, not based on more than the vaguest of ideas from the original mythos, and a real world twist that was very realistic coming from a fellow member at fimfiction, Minalkra. Give her a look if you want to see her piece on it, the conversion bureau: what would have really happened.
Anyway, it's based on those two concepts in a mash up with a little dystopian future twist of my own and a few hopefully emotional pieces of my own devising. I have actually completed the first installment, but I do not want to post anything until I have the completed work, and so far I still need to reread Blaze's original piece before I can get to my second installment.
