"Princess Trinity" on Hiatus? Nah. · 8:18pm May 27th, 2012

Thanks to everyone who's been reading "Princess Trinity." Updates on it are not rapid, but it's going to be a rather involved story, and I want to give readers something that's both thoughtful and reasonably polished. Although I'm still relatively new to the fandom and brand new to this site, I have some experience writing novel-length, bloody, war-torn fan fiction, being the author what is still, as far as I know, the most infamous work of Bone fan fiction on the Internet.

Hmm. Suddenly, that makes me think somepony ought to write an MLP/Bone crossover. What would the Bone cousins do if they stumbled into Equestria? Phoney Bone would probably try to cheat all the ponies out of their bits and would probably end up in a rivalry with Applejack. Smiley would no doubt find a kindred spirit in Pinkie Pie, and the two of them would probably wreck half of Ponyville with their antics. Fone Bone would probably develop a massive crush on Twilight Sparkle, and they'd numb the brain of anypony else who came near them with their enthusiastic talk of books.

No, no. I can't work on that right now. I have too much else on my plate.

Anyway, considering that I'm still new to the site, I've gotten a good-sized readership and lots of feedback, and for that I'm very grateful. If you faved or followed after reading and I didn't personally thank you for doing so, you have my apologies: I was still figuring out how to maneuver around this place at the time.

Although I know where the story's going and exactly what I'm doing in the next chapter, I remain uncomfortable with one thing: "Princess Trinity" is supposed to be a G1/G4 crossover depicting G1 as G4's ancient history, but it has a serious dearth of G1. I could look up G1 stuff on YouTube easily enough, but the Deej works on a no-pirating rule (okay, I admit I watched "Rescue at Midnight Castle," "Escape from Catrina," and My Little Pony: The Movie on there. Mea culpa). I'd be willing to shell out the bits for a DVD set, but my job has me living out of motels at the moment, which makes ordering things kind of hard.

Anyway, I can move ahead a few chapters on "Princess Trinity," but I may reach a point soon where I have to pause for further background research. I haven't seen most of G1 since I was a kid, and I'd like to get a bigger portion of it under my belt than I currently have.

Okay, second issue, also related to G1. When I started watching G4 on the recommendation of a blog reader, the first thing I noticed was a serious lack of Megan. You can say what you will about Megan, just so long as you don't say it to me--the only reason I watched G1 when I was seven years old was because of Megan, and as I re-watch the show as an adult, I still think, giving some allowances for the bad writing, that she's kinda cool. Travel to a fairyland and slay an evil centaur? Megan is up for that. Trick recalcitrant baby ponies into taking their nap? Megan is so there. Fight the Blob and discover a lost civilization? Megan does that twice on Sundays. I don't know how else to say it: this girl is freaking awesome.

The Brony-in-Equestria story has been done to death, but you know what I want more of? I want more Megan-in-Equestria stories. Finding "The Elements of Harmony and the Savior of Worlds" a few days ago made me deliriously happy, especially since it depicts Megan as finally being smart enough to take a gun with her to Ponyland (and don't give me the but-she's-just-a-kid excuse; she lives on a ranch where she almost certainly has access to firearms and the knowledge to use them), but I want more.

In fact, why is it always adults or angsty teenage boys who end up in Equestria in all these fan works? It is a little girls' show, after all. We need more stories of little girls going to Equestria, but aside from one trollfic of which I don't remember the title, I'm unaware of any. I mean, seriously, we've had space pilots and Star Wars characters in Equestria, so why not little girls? They don't even have to be omnicompetent and tough-as-nails and lacking in personality like Megan was.
