So there I am, typing along, fleshing out the story-line I have in my head. (I've never done a story outline. I should probably research that.) Everything seems to be going fine, until... What did that character just say? Oh [nuts]! I have no idea how to answer that! I'm a guy! And this requires a woman's response! WTF am I going to say?
Of course, the solution is to call on one of the fairer sex, quickly explain the situation, and then ask how they would respond. No problem. Just answer and move on. But the thing that really jerks my tail, is the fact that I have a character say something I'm not expecting!
How Rude!
Don't they know that I'm the author, and I shouldn't be caught off guard like that? Especially when I thought I had the perfect dialog already planned out! Why can't they just follow the script!
But it isn't just limited to dialog. It happens with character actions as well. For instance: Two pony models on a roof were supposed to just stand back and let Ditzy talk with the photographer, and say very little. Instead, they walk right up, introduce themselves, and then proceed to force themselves into my story!
CUT!
Those were not your stage directions ladies! I don't appreciate your improvisation!
(But Mr. Writer sir, I think it's kinda better their way...)
Hmmm.... You may be correct..... Okay, let's leave it in for now. But from now on, stick to the script! I'm the writer, and I can't have any more of these kind of interruptions! You are hindering progress! Now I have to rethink how Abacus... Wait a minute... I have the best IDEA!!! This is gonna be great! It's going to add a few pages I didn't plan on, and I have to think about some more dialog, but I think this is going to be better!
Ugh! But why does this have to take so long!
The surprises... They are a hindrance right?
Woah, woah, woah. How many roles are you taking here? They called you 'Mr. Writer' and yet you were also directing them. What next, are you the producer and sponser?
2084918 I have to be. I can't afford staff. Fortunately the critics are free...
Actually, I am going to have to get payment for that critique that I just did.
Anyway, I am sure any of your fans would be willing to help be a producer or director.
2086611 Yeah, good luck with that. I didn't solicit for critiques and you didn't make prior compensatory demands. Therefore, that bit of your intellectual property is now mine free of charge. So there!
2087864 You drive a hard bargain.
