Music Spotlight: Bambooman & Heart Drive 03 · 6:02pm Apr 6th, 2014
I'm going to do a post like this whenever I discover a new musical artist I like, or something similar.
I heard this guy's music in a lecture at Uni last week, and I was very impressed. He was apparently going to present the lecture himself, since he's an alumnus of my University, but unfortunately he lost his confidence to do so; the usual lecturer did it instead. But anyway, he's got a production style that's very influenced by electro-acoustic music and has a lot of percussion based from found sounds. He also tunes to non-western scales using just intonation, which gives his melodies and harmonies an exotic sound. If you don't know what any of that means, have a listen:
And he's also done production for a singer/songwriter called Segilola. I think this song in particular is simply lovely:
Here's a link to his EP "Hollowed", and Segilola's EP "Somewhere Along The Line".
Heart Drive have released their third podcast, "Module Eight". Listen to it here.
Really digging Bambooman! Thanks for sharing. I hate to start comparing artist bu it really reminded me of Bop or Mindspan. I only listened to this two (three I suppose) song you put there but I'll probably be getting the album very soon.
I also really liked Segilola so I'll have to check that out as well.
Module Eight was good but I think Empathy Reboot is still my favorite so far.
