    Well, this is weird.

I was just looking at memes on the Facebook page of my favorite political troll, Chest Strongwell(Borderline NSFW to breaking past NSFW into a whole new realm of inappropriate. View at your own risk.), and I could have sworn I got a glimpse of a gigantic, semi-immaterial wall stretching out diagonally from my computer screen

Welp, I've started work on a new story.

Prepare yourself for more insanity, because now I'm taking something inherently insane, combining it with an insane pony, and using my insane writing style. To clarify, I am writing a story called, "Pinkie Pie's Encounters with the Colon Dwarf". You may or may not know the Colon Dwarf from the semi-popular webcomic, "For Lack of a Better Comic". So, get

One thing I've noticed regarding some of the fanfics posted here is that people tend to describe the bit of metal around Celestia's and Luna's necks as a breastplate. This really just rubs me the wrong way.

That is a breastplate. Note that it covers most of the torso from the front. Now ask yourself: do either of those bits of metal do that? No? Then they're not breastplates.

Now then, that is a gorget. Notice how it covers the neck and part of the chest. Do either of those bits of metal do that? Yes? Then they're probably gorgets.

I think it might be called peytral? English is not my primary language, so I can't say for sure.

In terms of armor for equines, it might be, but when looking at one it doesn't quite protect as much. I think they're just equine-adapted gorgets.

I just call it regalia.

1969470 It's meant to be worn together with criniere (neck armor(which is gorget) and helmet. Usually a leather/chain/tick cloth dress thingy (which I cant recall name off) is attached for extra anti arrow protection, but it might be used alone (since it cowers the parts of legs that is not moving.

Gorget is the neck armor, you usually attach your helmet to, or it's together with helmet, unless it's the light hat like ones, in which case they usually cower up more neck and chin. It's sometimes built into breastplate too, albeit more rarely. Lether colars/chokers also can be considered Gorget's Its meant to protect the gorget part of your throat(basically any neck armor) and clavicles and sternum,so in this case it doesn't, so i would call it a necklace or lower part of gorget.

Although any medallion/neck ornament can be called gorget, so I guess you are kinda right. Still its better to say necklace then, because most people have to look up what gorget is.

Good point. It still bothers me that people call it a breastplate, though.

I just say regalia:applejackunsure:

And that's usually just fine. Some people, though...:facehoof:
