The Journal of the Side Stories (Part 2!) · 6:26pm May 16th, 2012
Alright, I've still got a heck of a backlog of stories that I've read and want to rave, and those crazy few of you who give a damn enough to be still reading by this point probably want to hear more about "Investigation of a Nightmare" so I will... in a minute, but first I want to address an issue invading the community that actually has me a little worried. This pervasive idea that any particular kind of story is better or worse. I honestly believe that every single kind of story has its own benefits, and certainly some hit it off better with some than others, but that in no way says that one is better than the other, be it grimdark, slice of life, alternate universes, or comedy, yes, even clopping, all have their places in our little miniature society, and need to be equally respected. Alright? We've got that out of our way? Great, then let's get started.
So, right around this point in time was when I got my membership on FIMfiction. (Yes, folks, we have that much backlog, two whole weeks. So I've got me a helluva job goin'.) and began building up my reading list. My reading list is pretty easy to find, it is in fact my favorites. It will be constantly evolving and growing and shrinking as I go. I will read, declare they are unworthy or no, and then they will disappear from the list, but once I get into that list, just as with these past few posts, I will not leave you hanging out to dry, and I will provide you with ways to find each story. Some are very easy to find, and are a mere Google search away, and the others I will leave a link to. Such as those soon to come. Assuming I stop talking about other things.
So on to "Investigations of a Nightmare"!
we begin this story with Princess Luna, through taking offense to something of this terrible nature taking place during, and I quote "MY night", decides to take on the role of effectively becoming police chief. This is a very short little story, and it has no real purpose but to let people know that due process does exist in Equestria, rather than the anarchical matriarchy that we seem to assume it is, and we actually get to see some investigation done. It's not a CSI kind of thing, analyzing the scene, breaking down evidence, and compiling witness accounts, as it is plainly obvious what is going on, who is guilty, and who she's done it to, especially if you've read the aforementioned "Cupcakes" and "The Journal of The Cupcake Killer". this is actually the lead up the the finding of said journal, but I personally felt that this was a better chronology to the story, getting the mindset and terrifying journey into Pinkie's sanity out of the way after dealing with the personal aftermath for Rainbow and then settling the minds of those of you who may have been wondering what was being done about it with this one. So yes, this does answer a few question, indeed, and i definitely suggest you give it a read.
Well, that's all for this entry, and you know there'll be another, so next week, We'll be discussing another side-story that is an expansion on the details of a APR and is, yes, a little bit of a tear-jerker... you know, if you're sensitive like that. the title is "Living the Dream". and it will be the next in this, and I have decided, 3 part series, one for each of these amazing side stories that, in some way, link to either APR or The Journal or both respectively. come back in... like an hour, and the next bit will probably be up...
here's the link to "Investigations of a Nightmare", feel free to check it out.
