Season 4, Epsiode 14: Fili Vanili · 3:49pm Feb 17th, 2014
I wish I had picture to pop into this blog.
This is probably one of my more favorite episode in Season 4, not only because Big Mac speaks, but because we see some character development with Flutterbutt.
So the episode starts with a song from the yellow hoofbeast, and she finds that all of her friends heard her singing. She had been planning a special adoption even for her animals, where it's revealed that Rarity is part of a singing group known as the Pony Tones, a quartet that also consists of Big Mac and two other ponies that I'm sure will get names eventually.
Because she's so good at singing, Rarity pushes for Flutters to join, because she has apparently forgotten the events of Green Isn't Your color, but of course is rejected. HOWEVER, just before the big show, something terrible happens:
Big Mac loses his voice. Yet he still talks. Aw yeah. So, what ends up happening is Rarity comes up with a plan: They all go to Zecora's, where the zebra's like "I can fix his voice, but it ain't gon' be ready by tonight." So Rarity's all like "Fluttershy, do that thing with the poison joke and get the voice thing to do the stuff." While Fluttershy's to afraid to get on stage, they practice it so that Big Mac moves his lips while Flutters stays backstage.
Now, I knew something was going to go wrong, but after a few more shows that went off without a hitch, I began to doubt myself. However, eventually things do go wrong. Fluttershy accidentally reveals herself, which ends with her running away to her house to bathe in the poison joke cure. However, after some encouraging words from her friends, the episode ends with Fluttershy singing a number with the Pony Tones in front of her friends and animals.
She still refuses to do big shows, but she's getting a bit more bold, and I like it. Of course, Pinkie once again proved to be incapable of being relevant in any episode not centered around her, but that's, unfortunately, a given at this point. Still, we're seeing some Flutterbutt character development, so I can't argue.
8/10 Would watch again.
