Current Status

I am attempting to improve as a writer. Even though I was not doing, well, almost anything here on FimFiction, I was doing thinking on writing in the background. By now, I believe I may be able to come back as a stronger writer.
The only story I have posted here thus far is Sapient Metal. However, as I see it, right now it is rather doomed. The potential is there, but already it just seems bad. The whole premise seems slightly contrived (at least, to me), and that is a problem for every story. There needs to be a reason for everything, and everything needs to seem plausible. Sapient Metal does not start off in quite the fashion I want it to.
That is why I'm planning on scrapping it all and restarting. I may even change the title to something else, perhaps with some type of pun on "Sweetie Belle" or "Sweetie Bot". I cannot have it obvious - I'd prefer it to be symbolic. The beginning also needs adjustments. I see two possibilities for the first chapter: explain the background before the real start (exposition); or jump right in, where Sweetie Bot has already made the "jump" (no exposition). I'm starting to favor the latter, as it seems to get rid of some unnecessary exposition. Seriously, the focus character of the current first "chapter" is someone who likely won't be mentioned much in the later chapters, so introducing him seems pointless. Furthermore, I find that having mentions to the unrevealed past may also works towards the story's favor - it might add to the mystery, and to the plot (and its continuation). After all, for every story, there's a time before the beginning, and eliminating that exposition provides all the more opportunities to show that. That is why, when I start up Sapient Metal again, I plan to remove the first chapter and proceed with what would have been the second chapter.
Additionally, since the currently-dubbed Sapient Metal needs heavy revision, I plan to perhaps start up several other stories. I hope to get rid of some of my writer's block that way, and get new ideas flowing in. I can only hope I don't get confused between the two, that would be VERY bad. As stated, I have a few ideas floating around in my mind, they just need to be expanded. One of those is the ever-famous "I'm in Equestria" self-inserts... I'll just have to experiment with that for a little. Another one is a secret . The only hints I'm giving is that it includes another dimension.
Anyways, I hope to finally get myself into a habit of writing. Hopefully, I'll be able to write well, and with interest for all. Don't want anyone bored, after all...
