Season 4, Episode 13: Simple Ways · 6:32pm Feb 9th, 2014
Alright, before I begin, I'm going to be blunt and honest about this:
I didn't finish this episode.
What I thought would get on my nerves would be the absurd amount of lesbian Applejack lovers spamming threads about how this proves that they're right. Not only have there not been any of those, but also it was the episode itself that ticked me off. I'll probably go back at some point, watch the episode in its entirety, and give a better review, but right now I'm just going to talk about what I saw and how I feel, and let me tell you guys:
It ain't gon' be purty.
So this episode began with Rarity being chosen to plan a very big, very special event in Ponyville. She's extremely excited, but also extremely nervous, as she reveals that girly man #... 3 or 4, I think, AKA Trenderhoof (please tell me I'm not the only one that thought of Trenderman), would be coming to observe the event. She also reveals a shrine to him that makes her seem more like that creepy chick who's obsessed with the main character in every anime ever. Rarity is obviously in love with this guy, and does all she can to impress him when he visits. There's just one problem...
This guy has a boner for Applejack. Well, I can increase his masculinity counter a little bit due to him not being bothered, let alone in love, with a sweaty, muddy farm girl. Good on ya, dude.
Applejack is obviously not interested, but Trender keeps pushing her and pushing her in an attempt to get her attention. So Rarity is left devastated and crying at the shrine she made, and this is where I realized something:
The Mane 6 are complete assholes. I should have thought more about it during Pinkie Pride, when everyone abandoned Pinkie, their best friend whom they were just singing with, to go along with a guy who had just arrived and had not yet backed up his claim to be the best party pony in Equestria, but I did put more thought into that during this scene.
As I said, Rarity is crying, and Spike comes to try and comfort her. After a few lines back and forth, Rarity pulls this: "How could you understand what it's like to have feelings for someone who doesn't feel the same way?"
I know I'm not the only one that realizes that Rarity is not oblivious to Spike's feelings. She knows how Spike feels about her and she still had the guts, the balls, the nerve, the chutzpah, the minerals, the gonads, the audacity to say something like that. This is around the point where I stopped watching, because I got to thinking about how bagdouchey that was, which made me think of how bagdouchey everyone had been in Pinkie Pride. You know what the worst part is? Spike didn't even say anything back. All he did was make that face, which means he either didn't care that she said that, or was really hurt and didn't want to show it. I'm probably overthinking this, but hey, that's what I do.
So yeah... I may or may not do a proper review thingamajigger if/when I rewatch the episode. But yeah, Scumbag Rarity.
i wanted spike to lynch people man but its like ohh i dont care
