Dreams are weird. · 10:45am May 13th, 2012
I just had a bizarre dream. At least, it was for me because I very rarely have dreams. When I do, they are usually pretty dull and I wake up alright.
Not this one, though.
From what I can remember, I was at a house during some kind of social get-together for parents who ended up dragging their children along too. I wouldn't normally have to go to these kinds of things, as I am old enough to decide whether I want to, but for some reason I ended up going in my dream.
Firstly, the house was confusing as hell to navigate. I remember being on the top floor and working my way down to the bottom by a series of rickety staircases and slides. When I got down I found there was no actual way to go back up.
Fortunately, it was time to eat, so I was handed a bowl and walked into the kitchen. As I progressed, the bowl grew heavier and heavier, eventually causing me to set it down on the floor before finally pulling it up and setting it on the table. There wasn't any food there, however. But that was alright, so I walked back out of the kitchen to find myself on the top floor again.
Now thoroughly annoyed, I began to make my way back down to the ground floor, but on my way I found a sword just lying in the middle of a hallway.
Still confused, I picked it up, surprised to find how light it was, especially compared to the bowl.
I began walking with it, still aiming to get downstairs, when a skeleton came lurching out of a side room, swinging a sword of its own.
I managed to defeat it by slapping its skull with the flat of the blade, causing it to collapse into separate bones, with a suspicious number of femurs.
After the skeleton lay vanquished, I dropped the sword, and carried on downstairs. Like I was going to need it again anyway.
As it happens, I would have needed that sword again, as I walked past a pile of earth with a few scattered bones amongst it. I did a double take at the pile to find a skull rising up out of it, staring right at me.
Luckily, there was an open door right next to me, so I ducked into it, remembering a battle-axe was lying on the floor behind the door. I picked it up, and faced the skeleton. This one was more of a challenge than the other one, so it took a few good swing to take him apart.
But of course, it wasn't my lucky day. As soon as I killed the skeleton, a whole bunch of red lights appeared on my compass, surrounding me. I started panicking, remembering only to shut the doors before one came through from where I had killed the most recent one.
As I swung for it, a fireball flew over my head and shattered the attacking skeleton to pieces. I turned around to find a hooded man throwing another fireball at skeletons who had just opened one of the doors.
I realised that the fireballs were a lot better for taking out the undead assailants while at range, so I started doing the same. Then, three skeletons did some crazy necromancer magic and the room turned dark, while their skulls caught fire and became unattached from the rest of their bodies. One was burning in a green flame, another yellow, and the third red.
The hooded man and I charged our fire spells together and launched three fireballs at the heads. His two struck their targets dead on, but my shot unfortunately missed as the floating skull rose up, allowing the fireball to pass harmlessly under it. It opened its mouth, undoubtedly to try an attack of some kind, so I raised my axe and ran at it.
My axe connected right on target, splitting the skull right down the middle. As it fell, it burned away into nothing pretty quickly. I turned back to the hooded man, only to find he had disappeared. Oh well, at least it was all over.
But it wasn't, as the coloured flames suddenly appeared out of nowhere, combining in the middle of the room creating a portal. I gripped my axe as four smaller skulls, each green, materialised at the bottom of the portal, all staring at me.
I swung my axe at the closest one, only to find my axe pass right through it and for it to change colour from green to yellow. I tried the same with the remaining skulls, to meet the same result. I focused my swings on the two closest together, which also happened to be nearer the floor.
I swung repeatedly at the skulls, watching as they turned from yellow, to red, to purple. I thought if I could keep this up, the skulls would disappear entirely and I would win. But the more I swung the axe the more my vision blurred. I kept swinging it until all I could see were coloured blobs and kept swinging still.
Eventually, I passed out for some reason, maybe the skulls were draining my energy with their blank stares.
However, as I passed out in the dream, I woke up in real life, immediately lurching out the bed and stumbling around like a drunk, slamming against my desk and chest of drawers. I decided I must be dehydrated so stumbled into the bathroom after grabbing the empty glass on my chest of drawers, filling it up from the tap and taking a good long drink.
That was when I decided I had to record the dream. I didn't want it on facebook, and here is the only place where I already have blog entries, so here it is.
It was the weirdest dream I have ever had, I think. Also, probably a sign to stop playing Skyrim.
I hope you enjoyed reading.
