My Thoughts On Season Four Thus Far · 6:14am Jan 20th, 2014
*OBLIGATORY SPOILER WARNING*
Season four has been pretty good overall, certainly better than season three, which, I will be frank, I didn't particularly like. I absolutely despised Equestria Girls, and every time I hear a positive review, I am inclined to write a strongly worded letter to the reviewer in all caps explaining why the movie was bad and why they should feel bad for liking it.
I would like to turn your attention to the most recent episode.
Short version: It sucked. From a story perspective, it was worse than Daring Don't (although I actually think that going lower than that is an impossibility, Rainbow Falls nonwithstanding).
The dialogue was dreadful, consisting almost entirely of exposition and needless reputation the story itself is an unsightly mashup of Sweet and Elite and Wonderbolts Academy, both of which handled similar situations exponentially better.
In fact, this episode serves only to give Rainbow her key, thus furthering the overarching plot. As it's own story, it falls apart like some hastily constructed cardboard shelter in the middle of a tornado slinging rotten tomatoes. Said tomatoes are hopefully pelting the writers for their seeming inability to retread old ground with some amount of dignity or originality.
And am I the only one that thinks Derpy should have been on the relay team in the first place, I mean, she dashed from the sidelines to the winners podium in like, half a second, tops. I feel as if she has been discriminated against because of her eyes, as she is clearly a better flier than either Bulk or Flutters and yet both were preferred over her.
Or it could just be because the mayor doesn't want another bill for massive property damage reaching her desk again.
It's probably the latter.
