Back to work on Crowns and Apples, Butterflies and Lilies. Also, I'm starting to take a mild dislike to Spitfire · 10:08pm Jan 18th, 2014
Progress on Crowns and Apples and Luna Looks for Love were completely derailed by a death in the family, though I managed to keep The Return of Mr. Bun from suffering the same fate, likely because it's a simpler story without the huge obstacles of putting Luna on multiple dates or pairing Fancypants and Applejack. I decided to work on Crowns and Apples first because it's been out of action longer (I think), and I actually intended to get back to work on it last night, but I got hit with a full blown, nasty cold, so I settled for reviewing the other two chapters to see where I was going, as well as fixing up typos and clarifying things in the story. We'll see how I feel tonight when I consider getting back to work on it.
Anyway, a quick review of "Rainbow Falls" before I go back to wallowing in my cold based misery.
The episode was okay overall, what with all the fun interactions between Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and Bulk Biceps (I would have used the name Snowflake, personally), and, unlike at least one other reviewer, I don't have a problem with Rainbow having to work with them, since they did a good job of explaining why she picked them.
Of course, then we get to the part where Soarin' injures himself and Spitfire tries to draw Rainbow to her team. She comes off as a manipulative ass, generating my dislike of her. The last times she appeared, I was neutral on her, with a more slight dislike way back in Wonderbolts Academy. Soarin, though, comes off as a much more sympathetic character by the end (though I won't spoil why). Also, it's nice to see Rainbow's morals are intact, even if Twilight had to remind her of them.
All in all, I'm going with a seven out of 10, the same as Rarity takes Manehatten and a hope that the rest of the season goes better with Derpy's appearance changing nothing (I'm meh on her).
