The Changeling Empire is one of the greatest powers in the Mlp, just sixth from Equestria, the Dragon Empire, Prance, the Zebra Empire, and the Griffon Empire. Their royal family is Queen Chrysalis' family...
But the Changeling Empire didn't start out like this, this nation started out as separate hives, and Chrysalis' old hive was one of them. But in the year 2008 the Changeling hives started to come together. With Chrysalis' leadership, half out of all the Changeling hives had united with her's forming the northern Changeling confederation, but the other half of the Changeling hives had united into the southern Changeling Union, and open fighting broke out between these two sides. Queen Chrysalis had her allies the Democratic Empire of Equestria, the Zebra Empire, and the Germareny while the southern Changeling Union had the Minotaur kingdom and the Buffalo tribes at their support.
This war of unification lasted for two years until Chrysalis managed to crush the southern Changelings and unite all of the Changeling hives into one great Changeling Empire...
They started to build colonies in the continent of Ponica along with their allies Equestria, Ice ponies, Dragons, Germares, and Prench.
Two questions: first, why do you call every nation but Prance and Germareny an empire?
Second, you mentioned 2008, but the ponies calendar doesn't work like ours, so how is 2008 a viable date?
Make that three. How is Equestria a democratic empire? Those are two contradictory terms.

1611161 Because well, united with all but the Ice pony kingdom because they are separate, they form a royal council. You have Princess Celestia and Luna of Equestria, Princess Cadence and her wife of the Crystal Empire, then you have other prince and princesses form the other seven pony kingdoms. They follow a monarch type of democracy where the republic is united into one empire where ponies like the ones in Ponyville and Canterlot can be free.

But that's what I'm saying. A government cannot possibly be a democracy and an empire. In a democracy all citizens have completely equal power in the government. In an empire the only people with power are the emperor/empress and any officers that they appoint. What you are describing with the council is neither a democracy or an empire. It's a coalition of the pony nations, or at it's most basic, a republic.
