Potential Story Idea · 10:27pm Apr 30th, 2012
'Sup guys. It's that time again. I attempted and consequentially failed to enter the /fic/ write-off. The prompt was evil and wasted hours of my time as I tried to write something that worked. So, it's time to look at this week's update schedule then. I really want to write something new (again) as I'm hating H:CE at the moment. I'll get over it eventually, but to do so I'm going to need to write some other stuff for a while. I like Twilight Incorporated and Priority: Equestria, and like the progress I've made so far with the two of them. Anyway the whole point I'm here is I want to ask for your opinion on this story idea.
After seeing Nethelli's Far from Home in both its 2nd person and 3rd person states, I concluded that 2nd person fics are actually pretty damn cool, and I really want to write one. So I've been looking into ways I could do that. Eventually I've come up with a synopsis for a story that I plan on writing. Here it is: The day had finally arrived. Eighteen months of advanced training and reconnaissance have prepared you and two others for one of the most important missions in human history. The three of you have been selected to scout out an alien world. Years of watching natives in their element has taught all you need to know about a race of candy coloured equines. It is your team's job to establish diplomatic relations. For this mission, the three of you will be going undercover as three ponies using some fancy equipment the techs have rigged together. Good luck, and welcome to the B.R.O.N.Y Initiative.
In case you couldn't tell from that synopsis, it's a simple Brony in Equestria fic with a twist. B.R.O.N.Y is actually a top-secret branch of the FBI, and the three who crossover are trained agents. We're not talking blank slate, completely professional agents though of course. The idea may have been done before, but I haven't seen anything like it. What do you guys think?
Good idea. I like it! One question though... are they going AS ponies, or, and I quote, 'using some fancy equipment the techs have rigged together' be some kind of cloak/desquise?
Anyway, looking forward to this if it DOES come out!
I like the idea, as long as there is some kind of dramatic/awesome twist in it that throws the worlds in jeapordy. (big govenrmental cover ups! They're actually all aliens to Equestria from different planets with funky Pony disguises and have now completely replaced the indigenous Pony race! Things like that!)
But I must say I'm not a fan of 2nd person stories, but that's just me...
And brony better stand for something with epic amounts of cheese or else...
93141 I was thinking its basically alters the body temporarily to match that of a pony's. They'll all be earth ponies as those are the simplest to imitate. The idea I had behind it was that the tech suffers from a few glitches that weren't quite ironed out, and that it has a limited battery life. The pony disguise is only meant to get them to Canterlot Castle unmolested.
93144 Spoilers.
I love 2nd person in certain fics. It helps with the immersion factor, but it does make it harder to tell a story due to characterisation issues. You can't make too many sweeping generalisations, for obvious reasons. That's why I'm choosing a three man team over a lone wolf.
I'm still working on the acronym. They're harder to think up than I thought they would be.
"The three of you have been selected to scout out an alien world. Years of watching natives in their element has taught all you need to know about a race of candy coloured equines."
Why do we need to send scouts if we already have so much data? Why would we spend the resources to go to an alien planet just to say hi? If the mission really is to 'establish diplomatic relations' than why the disguise and all the training? It sounds more like interplanetary green beret's trying to start a civil war so that equestria is easier to conquer!
93206 Whatever gave you that idea.
