So, over on my regular blog I wrote a review of Tails of Equestria. If you want my impressions, give it a look.

So, season six has been (in my opinion), pretty uneven. Maybe even weak. It's not bad. It just feels trope-y and uninspired. Dare I say it's losing steam? Now, that all being said, today's episode was, personally, a helluva a lot of fun for me personally. As a life-long table top RPGer and game designer, I really loved the nod to fantasy roleplaying. Besides, this image sums up the awesomeness of

So after Rainbow Rocks turned out to be pretty damned good I was totally turned into a Sunset Shimmer fanboy (Sunset Shimmer is Best Human). I was also a fan of "My Past is Not Today," the angsty ballad of redemption. Hey, I was a goth kid - Sisters of Mercy and all - so don't judge.

I may, in fact, be going insane.

So I spent half of the day being a lumberjack - and that's OK. Well as I'm unwinding for the night and hop in the shower I hear something as clear as day. It's the entire "May the Best Pet Win" number from the episode of the same name. Seriously. The whole song. I assume I'm hearing it because it's on in the next room where Trixie is toddling around.

Six Pies Over Hoofstone · 4:42am Nov 25th, 2013

So with the Equestrian Saga cancelled, I've considered doing a different pony history type fiction. In addition to fantasy, I'm also a fan of the Old West, so naturally Appleloosa is one of my favorite places in Equestria. That being said the show has already established that Appleloosa is only a year old when it was introduced, so there's not a whole lot of history there at first glance. But then I had an idea.

What if Appleloosa was built on the ruins of an old west style ghost town that I'm tenatively calling Hoofstone? As I got thinking about a famous gunslinger in this town and of course wanted to tie this to the Apple Family. So what if Applejack's parents were a kind of Doc Holiday and Big Nose Kate duo of old west style criminals who eventually settled in Ponyville after one last heist? Why Ponyville? Well, that's where Granny had settled, so what if one of her kids had spent their years gallavanting around Hoofstone before retired back at the old homestead?

Now, I know we get the impression that AJ's family were farmers before they died/left/went off/whatever - but nothing specifically states this. Again, this is just a seed I'm bounding around - so what do folks think?
