Dear Writers: How Do I Hold a Pen? · 3:48pm Nov 12th, 2013
Yeah, the title of this post is a little deeper than it could appear...lol.
I am an artist here on FimFiction. I am not just a digital artist, though--I love to create things. Clay figures, painting, murals, many music genres, roleplay, recipes, and I'm very good at creating characters (I'm also told I'm a great roleplayer)... I realize my talent is manifold. But there is one thing I can't do for the life of me! I can't write a whole story. Not even a short one. I believe I have the vocabulary and poetic skills to do it, as well as the inspiration.
I'll start writing one, get immersed, but as soon as I look away for a break or some other distraction, I can never continue that story again. I ask myself, "then what? What happens next?" but a day could pass, a week, a year, several years. When I come back to it, I'll either like or dislike what I've made so far, but I'll be just as stumped as the first time.
What should I do? I've started so many stories that cut off. Not even at a cliff hanger. They just drop dead.
Thank you.
AML
I have the same issue, and writing is ny main creative outlet. I find it beat to just keep putting down words even if you don't like them, you'll eventually find the words you want.

That's a little painful, but if you say so, I'll give that a shot. Thanks XD
1502692 No problem, what kind of story are you trying to write?

Adventure with potential romance
I could help with editing if you want, it wouldn't be too hard.
I agree with Jaime, just throw words on a page then go back and fix them. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so it's almost painful for me too.
I might also suggest looking for a co-author, someone to help shoulder the burden. (and bug you about the story all the time)

I guess the other part of my problem is actually displaying my stories. I can't find the courage to discuss them, even.
1570382 Mind if I try a little something?
Who's the main character of your story? (or the last one you tried or whatever)

Well... Here's one story that I haven't thrown away yet (Not FiM related; it's an original story):

I intentionally never show the characters' faces. Only one name has been revealed so far, and it's the animal's.
The story is pretty patchy right now. I'm working on filling the holes, but sometimes I'm not sure how. I'm not going to show it off until I see a gradient in the story, myself. People just keep telling me, "keep writing." I have many events planned for the story, but nothing in between. It's like I can write a story...I just can't tell it. Gah, I don't know how to make that make sense, if it doesn't already.

To answer your question, the boy's name is Vaiir.
