What's with the dislikes on my story? · 1:12am Nov 12th, 2013
I'd like to thank everyone that's faved, liked, and commented on my story, so far. But now there's something I'd like to bring up that's very important:
For quite some time now, "Sunset Eclipsed" has had one negative vote for every two positive votes that it receives. At the time I'm making this blog post, I have 22 likes and 11 dislikes on the story. Here's the question: WHY?!
2/3 good and 1/3 bad constantly. What's the deal here? Who keeps disliking this story every time the positive votes hit an even number? If you people are deliberately doing it just to keep the pattern going, then just stop it! It's really disrespectful towards the author to play around with the ratings system like that!
If you're doing this for legitimate reasons, then what are they? What do you not like about my story? If you have a problem with what I put or don't put in the stuff I write, then why don't you tell me what it is instead of just giving me anonymous votes? I can't read your minds, people! That's what we have comment systems for! If you can choose to like or dislike, what's stopping you from telling me why you did it, too? If you don't want to post a comment, then at least send me a PM!
Honestly, what's the point of disliking my story if you're not even going to stick around to elaborate on it? I welcome constructive criticism, but just disliking a fanfiction and going on to something else without saying one bad thing about it is just insulting to any writer! One bit of con-crit; that's all I ask from you dislikers!
I already gave your story a like and a favorite a few days ago :p Right now I'm only half way through the story. I like a lot of things about the it, mainly, Sunset shimmer's return to equestria, becoming luna's student instead of celestia, and I also like the dynamic she has with her brother. The few sections so far where she interacts with her brother are the parts I liked the most. I also like the interactions between Trixie and Sunset. I definitely like the light-hearted chapters more than the others.
One thing I will say though, is that I'm not a huge fan of the human parts. I usually just scroll down until I see a paragraph start with something like, 'Meanwhile, in equestria." (Separators like --------- would help spot those breaks ;) ) I guess I just have believability issues with the whole terrorist organization hunting down someone they know is a pony. Anything goes in the land of magical talking horses, but it's harder to accept anything and everything in the real world. At least for me. Anyway, even though I skipped those parts, the story is still totally coherent, at least for now, so that's good.

Thanks, Charlie. That's just what I was looking for: Someone taking the time to measure the pros and cons of my story.
To be honest, I always had a feeling that people might find the doings of the Chrysalis Syndicate to be at least a little far-fetched. Though they are the human world equivalent of the Changeling Empire, but financially supported by the human counterpart of King Sombra (spoiler warning, if you haven't read that far!), so they'd probably have enough resources to spare with this kind of operation.
And I'm glad to hear you like some of the other things with my story. And you can certainly expect more chapters with Sunset Shimmer interacting with her brother and Princess Luna as you progress through the story. Those are my personal favorites, as well.
In the meantime, though, how about posting a couple more comments on my story, regarding anything else that draws your interests as you read on? Also, if you were to pay attention to anything human world-related, it should at least be Sergeant Craw's character arc. It will prove important later on, after all.
