For those of you who have expressed a desire to "kill me with fire" or otherwise noticed that most of my stories are about as uplifting as a pile newborn babies set on fire, this should make you pretty happy.
In all honesty, all the sadfics were starting to affect me just as much as they did you. While I've never cried at any of my own stories (it's pretty hard to be emotionally affected by something you wrote from start to finish), the depressing nature of my works was starting to weigh on me. As such, I've finally begun work on my FIRST EVER upbeat story.
I didn't write all those sadfics because I love depressing people and/or pushing them toward authorcide; I wrote them because those are the ideas that came to me. I've actually wanted to write a comedy for a long time. The lack of a good subject was all that was holding me back.
I don't want to spoil too much, but what I've come up with is a satire aimed at basically the entire brony community (myself included). My main goal is just to get us to laugh at ourselves from time to time. Even if we do have a good message, we can be a bit...overzealous from time to time, and for that matter, we can take ourselves way too seriously.

For the record, Josh, I simply love the emotions you provoke in your stories. If I laugh through your new material as much as I've cried through your previous work, that would be amazing!
Go for it I say. If you make a funny story as well as you make a sad one then your next story should be really good. Can't wait.

87611 Not really, just stating that I have a different emotional set than you. Your fics are quite possibly some of the best I have ever read, My Maker was on par with My Little Dashie for how much it made me weep manly tears.
Honestly, I'm a sadfic kind of guy, they provoke better stories IMO
but hey, I'll give this a look since it's by you
