Hello, everyone!
So, here's the life story. Last week Friday, there was an all-company meeting. Last time we had one it was semi-good news; this time, not so much. Furloughs were put in place immediately with everyone alternating a week on and a week off over the next two weeks, with more to possibly follow. The wrinkle: since my job is the most expendable in the company, and I am working part-time while I go to college, I'm off both weeks unpaid. Fortunately, I've saved up enough where I'm NOT worried about my finances in the least. Still...
Ow.
While one would think this is an excellent opportunity to get ahead in classwork and hammer out the next chapters of Changelings Change Everything, my perfectionism/procrastination combo has flared up hard. Everything is running a little bit behind schedule. I'm a creature of habit, and having my routines knocked out of balance has me all out of balance. It's fun. But, blah blah, enough about my life.
To sate your appetites in the interim, I have posted what may be the only one-shot I ever do! All You Need Is Love is a Top 5 finalist in The Writer's Group's September contest (out of 20 entries). I would have preferred a win, of course, but I'm honestly thrilled it got as far as it did. You can get the names of the other finalists in this thread. It was a tough competition!
While life has slowed my writing down, do not fear! The second chapter of Changelings Change Everything is well underway, and I foresee little to no rewriting during the editing phase. After that, there will be a sequel, followed by even grander projects on the horizon.
Stay tuned!
