Solaris gazed at his sister: Harmonia, eldest of the siblings that remained in the Taj Mahoof. She was a few years younger than Mi Amore Cadenza, and took after their mother, Quiet Solitude, right down to the pegasus nature that she shared with their mother. But as befitting a member of Saddle Arabia’s royal family, she was statuesque in height, as tall as the average stallion, with a slender frame that was the envy of nearly every mare in the country.

“Look, I….” Solaris started, not sure if he wanted to argue with his sister. Sure, he argued with Artemis all the time. But it was different between him and Harmonia.

“Arty’s just trying his best to make sure you’re ready for the future,” she said gently. “He has his way of doing it, and I have mine.”

“But Harmony!” Solaris squealed, “Arty doesn’t get it! He’s not my father! He’s just being a blowhard, just because he’s in charge of the school!”

“But he’s your older brother, Sol,” she reminded him, “and he deserves your respect. And right now, he’s under a lot of stress right now—” She caught herself and restated, “‘Right now, he’s under a lot of stress.’ There, no need for repetition. If you get used to that, your logic becomes as circuitous as your speech. Who said that, by the way?”

Solaris recalled it instantly. “Commander Pansy, back during the Sundered Tribes Era, before the founding of Equestria and shortly before our ancestors came here to found Saddle Arabia,” he said confidently, without fail.

“And you would know that how?” she asked. When he winced, she knew she had him. “See? A future leader of Saddle Arabia should know the Classics, so that we may be able to guide our ponies.”

“But I’m not in line for the throne, Harmony!” he said. “First it’s you, then Arty and then – maybe – me!”
