Well, you can get all the free music you want right here at noisetrade.com (Link's not working, copypasta time). It's completely legal, and if you want it to be, it's completely free. The basis of the website is that mostly non-popular or non-mainstream artists will post samplers, EP's, and in some occasions, full albums. The general rule is that you can download the music for free (and leave a tip if you want), and as a trade, you make a "noise" about the artist, whether it be Facebook, Twitter, or email. Making a "noise" is completely optional. The artist's page also leaves you tracks you can listen to before downloading, as well as links to their official sites on all the platforms.
You can search artists you like and receive music from artists who are influenced by that artist (for example, I can search AC/DC and get a list of albums and singles that are influenced by that band), or search artists that have put material on the site (or the album itself). You can also search by genre.
You can put some of your own musical tastes in, but here are some artists I suggest you search up:
